Following a grueling battle, the Rat King finally fell, allowing me to inspect its gruesome form. The relief was short-lived, as its severed half launched a surprise ambush in a ventilation shaft. After a frantic pursuit involving flamethrowers and handguns, I eliminated the demon and escaped to daylight.
I kept fighting the Rat King with absolutely everything left in my arsenal, pushing through the absolute terror until the massive demon finally collapsed dead onto the floor.
I completely couldn't believe that I had actually managed to take down such a legendary beast, so I slowly stepped closer to the mass to inspect its gruesome, twisted appearance from a much tighter angle.
Even though the primary threat of the Rat King was neutralized, the danger was far from over, as the severed half of the monster had broken away during the fight and was still roaming the facility, meaning I had to hunt it down next.
As I was slowly crawling through a narrow ceiling shaft to track its movements, the unseen demon suddenly burst through the paneling and launched a violent ambush out of nowhere.
Fortunately for me, the structural integrity of the ventilation shaft collapsed under our combined weight, sending both Abby and the creature crashing heavily down into an open room below.
I started attacking this agile entity with my flamethrower right away to burn it out, but it was remarkably quick at escaping my bursts, scurrying away while throwing out toxic gas spores that acted like a defensive blowtorch.
The creature continued to circle the room like a stalker, but at last, I managed to permanently take it down with my handgun since my flamethrower ammunition had been completely used up in the fight earlier.
After putting down the final demon, I finally understood that I was completely safe from the danger, yet the dark basement area still felt incredibly creepy as I walked past some storage racks entirely filled with melted dead bodies.
I eventually navigated my way out into an abandoned parking lot connected to the medical complex, where I noticed the beautiful morning daylight streaming through a broken exit gate, bringing this terrifying fight to an end at last.
