My dad was a chef so I grew up around food and have kind of taken over the cooking duties these days. Not all the time it depends who is busy or not. This was not intentional and just happened even though I am still learning.
My Dad was a fairly good cook too. He grew up poor (financially) and his Dad passed when he was a teen, so he helped his Mom a log with everything. When he traveled out of town he sometimes was invited to dine with the local fire chiefs home and it was not unusual for him to come home with some sort of good recipe. My older brother was also a good cook too, so he shared those duties in his life as well.
It never hurts to learn to cook. You never know when you might need it.
