Greetings everyone!
Humans are naturally jealous, and this lifestyle is seen majorly in groups of people—be it in a workplace, a family, an ordinary organisation, or even in a holy place like religious homes.
When I saw this topic about human behaviour in a workplace, the first thing that occurred to me was jealousy, because in the few organisations I have worked as an employed staff, that was the most common thing—and it was at the top. The last place I worked opened my eyes even more to how jealousy, with just a click, can disorganise a well-running system.
In the last place I worked as an employed staff, I was the only guy among 10 ladies, apart from the manager, who is male—but he doesn't get on the seat often. The manager happened to be very fond of one of the chefs, and when the others noticed that, that was the day everything changed.
Hold on, the likeness the manager had for the chef was not romantic. No, the man doesn't engage in extramarital affairs. He simply liked her based on how committed and perfect she was with her work.
If it had been an extramarital affair, it would have been understandable, and I would say maybe the other ladies were jealous because the manager didn't prefer them. But no—the other ladies just couldn’t accept the fact that one person was preferred among them.
From there, the things they all used to put effort into together to make work easier—like microwaving leftover food on time so that it wouldn’t spoil, or safekeeping some perishable items—were abandoned. They stopped doing all of that just so that the weak side of the girl could be seen...and that started affecting the organisation
Being the only guy among them, I watched them like I was watching a movie, pulling off those deliberate acts, and I got really irritated because the whole act was affecting the business. I reported it to the manager many times, and he called for meetings and cautioned everyone to act right—but you know, a jealous heart is always smart in the things it does.
There was a day when one of them intentionally mixed sour food into a fresh meal prepared by the chef, and when that particular portion was sold, the customer came back, raining fire and brimstone. Honestly, we didn’t know it was one of them that did it until weeks later when they were gisting me about their latest acts with mockeries and laughter.
Haaaaa! Wickedness!
I was angry at the group of ladies for pulling off such a thing because that occurrence drastically reduced the reputation of the company and the chef cried a lot that day because the manager queried her a lot.
Anyway, all this happened and played out well because the management was too weak to fire people, thinking it was hard to get workers. Actually, it was hard to get staff.
As for me, I was very careful not to be in a relationship with any of them because I was sure they’d either poison me or the girl. Lol 🤣 They were in charge of the staff food, you know. I tried my best to be friends with all of them as they positioned themselves.
Thanks for reading.
