My daughter-in-law has recently turned her focus to food photography and everyone is loving her new obsession! In order to make great food photos, first you have to make pretty food!

She is very particular about the way everything looks, and guess what happens to her discards!
Less than picture perfect pancakes and waffles must be eaten!

Lemon syrup for pancakes
Unsalted Butter (141 grams, 1 1/4 sticks),
10 tablespoons
Granulated Sugar (200 grams, ultrafine is best, if available),
1 cup
Heavy Cream (114 grams),
½ cup
Lemon Zest (from 2 lemons),
2 tablespoons
Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed, from 6 lemons),
¾ cup
Kosher Salt,
½ teaspoon
Baking Soda (3 grams),
½ teaspoon
Heat a saucepan on medium-low heat
Combine all ingredients except for the baking soda
Boil and cook until the sugar dissolves
Remove from heat & add baking soda
Stir continuously
Return to low heat & continue stirring
Let the syrup cool before serving

All photos are from my family albums.
I've heard rumors that hamburgers may be her next photo models!
