What's cooking

Honestly, not much at all.

Seriously though, something's cooking but not a great deal that's overly exciting. Life at the moment is like a particularly bland porridge when all I want it to be is like a juicy steak with chargrilled vegetables on the side and all slathered with a mushroom gravy.

But...porridge.

I've been very busy with work. Focused, is probably a better word and while I've not had to work 24 hours a day, my hours have been crazy long. When I'm not at work I've been trying to pack in some enjoyment and fun. Seeing friends, spending time with my special person, exercising and a myriad of other things where possible. Non-porridgey things.

On the weekend I decided I'd better shrug off the #porridgelife by way of a gathering with some friends. I invited a few to my home and we did some cooking, no porridge was involved, and had a few drinks. It was nice to cook a meal together, everyone pitching in, and to share the meal over some nice conversation, music and a lot of laughs. It was the highlight of my weekend and I hope to do it again soon.

Right at the moment there's mot much cooking, just work and the usual boring life things.

Into every life a little porridge must come. I suppose if one never endures the porridge, one cannot fully appreciate the glory of the steak.

I sometimes have porridge with honey, vanilla and cinnamon in it and I'll confess it's really good, but don't tell anyone or it'll render this post and my porridge metaphor pointless.

Right back at ya! I haven't eaten steak for 45 years. I love porridge.

Sometimes we all go through a porridge season, but it’s nice to be reminded that the “steak moments” still show up in good friends, good food and good laughs. Your weekend sounded like the perfect way to add some flavour back into life

I love those steak moments and the porridge moments help make the other much better.
