Chichén Itzá, Sunshine, and the Kindest People: My Journey to Mexico

in Travel2 days ago

How are you, dear readers? Today is my first time sharing my experiences in this beautiful community, and to start, I wanted to share my trip to Mexico with you. I hope you enjoy it...

In 2007, I took one of the most unforgettable trips of my life to beautiful Mexico, with my then boyfriend (yes, he’s an ex now, but the memories are still amazing, haha). We visited Mexico City and Cancún, and I fell in love with both places.

In Mexico City, I was amazed by the lively atmosphere, the kind and friendly people, and the delicious food. Everywhere we went, locals greeted us with warm smiles. I even wore a giant sombrero for fun, and no one judged me... that’s how welcoming everyone was!

Then we flew to Cancún, and it felt like stepping into a postcard. The beaches were stunning, and the weather was perfect. But what really took my breath away was visiting Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Standing in front of the pyramid was truly magical; you could feel the energy and history in the air. It’s hard to describe, but it felt like time stopped for a moment.

Of course, the food deserves its own paragraph! Tacos, fresh salsas, and a molcajete dish full of sizzling meats, cheese, and veggies. Unforgettable flavors that I can still almost taste today.

That trip to Mexico showed me how rich and vibrant the culture is. I hope someday to go back, this time maybe with my husband and son, to relive the magic.

Thanks for sharing your story! Mexico is high in a list of places I would love to visit and hope to get there soon!!

I 100% recommend visiting Mexico as a tourist destination. The landscapes are beautiful, and the people are even more so.

I went to Mexico City in 1974 to pick up a band named Vicente de Orta.
Mexico was an absolutely beautiful country, and it's like anywhere else, the politics get in the way of countries immaculate geographical landscape.

I was impressed by the warmth and kindness of its people. They made me feel like a Mexican.

When we were driving back up to the states through Mexico, going through Chihuahua the band broke out their instruments and played, 2 am in the morning driving through there.

What a beautiful experience!

It absolutely was! And it was a long story how I came to have that particular job, I was a formal ballroom dance instructor, and my boss was the one who owned the business and hired the band to come up here and play.
