Today, the usage of plastics is getting reduced everywhere. A good awareness is created among people, leading them to start using alternatives. This initiative should originate from the production unit, not just the consumer end. If the production of plastics come down, then the consumers will also automatically look for alternatives and settle for alternatives.
Today, researchers have identified that we are consuming a lot of plastic with or without our knowledge. Some countries where plastics are heavily used are having this as a big problem. It is not only affecting the general health, but it is also preventing people from producing new offspring. Semen samples now having microplastics that are affecting reproduction in human beings and other species.
Food safe carry bags
There are food-safe materials available as carry bags that are already being used for packing food and other purposes. They are food-grade because even if consumed by mistake by humans, there will be no problem. Consuming plastics by mistake can lead to a lot of problems. We might end up accumulating microplastics in our body and that can create a lot of complications.
Recently, for an event, we bought some completely biodegradable carry bags. There are different types of such bags available for purchase. Some bags take some time to degrade, and some bags just get dissolved in water. This is very good because it won't affect the marine species if dumped in water. We will be able to see the effect easily. I bought some bags for us last year, and I was keeping it in stock for about a year. But recently, when we noticed and checked, we were able to see that bags were slowing becoming like a powder, which is pretty much degradation, and it was a safe powder-like substance.
Non-plastics alternatives
Today, there are many avenues where non-plastic alternatives can be brought. Sometimes it can be slightly costly, but it can be implemented. Some shops have started giving cloth bags as an alternative to plastic bags after the purchase. They even charge a small fee along with the bill for those carry bags. People purchasing goods for a higher price may not see that as a big deal to pay for the carry bags.
There are both branded as well as non-branded cloth-based carry bags available. People can also buy it in bulk and use it in their shops, or they can order a printed one just for branding and marketing purposes. Some shops use cardboard-based carry bags, but I would recommend jute-based and cloth-based carry bags because it can be reused. The paper ones can be just one-time use and may not be suitable for repeated use.
