Happy Tuesday Hivers!
My mom said she was feeling bored and wanted to go somewhere. Then I remembered a café in Hilongos that I had been wanting to visit because I was craving some frozen yogurt. So, I invited her to Rafael's Resort and Cafe.
Come along and join us as we explore this beautiful place and share our experience!
Rafael's Resort and Cafe is located in Hilongos, Leyte, the neighboring town from where we live. Getting there requires two rides from our place. First, we take a bus or a multicab to reach the town proper of Hilongos. From there, we ride a Racal, which is one of the main modes of transportation available in the area.

When we arrived in Hilongos, it was raining heavily. Good thing we always bring umbrellas whenever we travel. Fortunately, by the time we reached Rafael's Resort and Cafe, the rain had already stopped.
That gave us the perfect opportunity to walk around, enjoy the surroundings, and take plenty of photos without worrying about the weather.

One of the things I love most is seeing nature right after a heavy rain. The plants always look so fresh, vibrant, and full of life. As soon as we arrived, the bougainvilleas immediately caught our attention. Their colorful blooms stood out beautifully against the fresh, rain-washed surroundings, making the place even more picturesque.

When I was younger, I never really appreciated bougainvilleas that much. But as I've gotten older, I've grown to admire their beauty. Now, I find myself stopping to admire their bright colors and delicate flowers whenever I see them. It's funny how our appreciation for simple things changes over time.

The surroundings were very quiet when we arrived at the resort, which actually gave us a nice opportunity to really enjoy and explore the area without distractions.
At the entrance, you are welcomed by the resort’s name, along with a reception area where guests are received. It gives a simple but warm first impression of the place, making you feel invited as soon as you step in.

After taking pictures at their beautiful reception area, we took some time to look around the surroundings and noticed the rooms where guests can stay overnight.
We also observed that they don’t have a swimming pool. Most of the guests who check in here are actually those attending weddings, as the reception for wedding events is also held at the resort.

Since our main purpose was to visit their café, we went out through the resort gate because the café is located outside the main resort area.
It is actually situated facing the sea, so we had to step outside to reach it. The location makes it even more relaxing, as you can already enjoy the ocean view while heading to the café.

Actually, their café is still under construction. The lower part is not yet finished, so for now, operations are temporarily located on the second floor.
Even if it’s still ongoing, it already gives a glimpse of what it will look like once fully completed, and it still manages to serve guests in a functional and cozy space.

When we arrived, there were already quite a number of customers. We actually had to wait for a while to be entertained because there was a large group ahead of us, and they also took some time deciding on their orders.

While waiting, I just took the time to check their menu. My mom and I are both not coffee drinkers, so I ordered frozen yogurt for both of us. The only difference was that I added pistachio for sauce to hers since she really likes pistachios.
I also ordered French fries, we hadn’t had fries in a long time, so it felt like the perfect little treat while we were there.

I was really satisfied with what I ate since I had been craving frozen yogurt for a long time. Aside from the food, I was also pleased with their service, the staff were fast, friendly, and very accommodating. The owner was also very hands-on and simple; in fact, she was the one who personally took our order.

That was our experience during our visit to Rafael’s Resort and Cafe.
It was a simple but memorable trip, relaxing views, good food, and a peaceful atmosphere. A place worth visiting when you just want to unwind and enjoy a quiet moment with family.
