A rainy day travel from Vadodara to Surat and the unforgettable taste at a Delhi restaurant

in Worldmappin18 hours ago (edited)

Greetings of the day,

I hope you all will be happy and healthy my dear. Instead of going on hospital duty like usual I decided to give myself a short break. For a long time, I wanted to travel outside a bit and experience something different, and that is why today I took leave from work and planned a short trip from Vadodara to Surat. Surat is famous for textiles diamonds and trade but the real purpose of my visit was to eat Nihari in a famous Delhi restaurant there.

It was morning, light clouds were floating in the sky. I reached the station early. There was a crowd on the platform but there was a different glow in it too. A few drops of rain were falling, adding coolness and earthy smell to the air. when my train arrived I grabbed the window seat. After a few minutes of the train starting, the view outside was worth seeing. The greenery of the fields, small ponds, and the shadows of clouds falling on the distant hills were giving peace to the mind.

Many times it would start raining heavily on the way and then stop after some time. It seemed as if the speed of the train was playing with the weather. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. I peeked through the window and saw railway employees who working on the track drenched at some places. To be honest, at that moment I felt proud of his hard work and dedication. There was a strange inspiration in that scene that even if life is drenched in rain, work should not stop.

Reached Surat station after a journey of about three hours. The crowd of people on the platform the sound of horns and the raindrops all around were creating a lively atmosphere. I threw my bag on my shoulder and slowly went out. As soon as I reached outside the station, I felt that special “smell of Surat” of the city in which history, business and modernity come together.

The roads of Surat were wet with rain. People were standing with umbrellas at small tea shops at various places. I took a taxi and headed straight towards Delhi Restaurant. On the way, drops of water were dripping from the balconies of old houses, and in between modern buildings were telling the story of the development of this city.

When I reached the restaurant, the fragrance was spread outside. The atmosphere inside was very wonderful the touch of Old Delhi and the familiarity of Surat together. I ordered Nihari, and when it came in front of me and its taste is difficult to describe in words. The aroma of spices hot bread along with the slight sourness of lemon everything was so perfect that it felt as if the real purpose of the journey had been fulfilled.

After lunch I took a short walk in the city. Walking in the old areas of Surat was like feeling the history in itself. Small shops in narrow streets, old houses whose walls bore the mark of time, and people who were busy with their daily routine despite the rain, everything was showing the real picture of life.

While passing through the center of the city, I noticed that in some places drops of rain were still falling from the sky. But there was a romance, a peace in them. I took hot tea from a nearby shop and stood under the umbrella and enjoyed the weather. Only one thought was coming to my that mind how important it is sometimes to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and live moments like this.

Evening was slowly beginning to descend, and it was time to return to the station. On the way, again the same traffic of Surat, the glow of lights on the wet roads, and the feeling of satisfaction along with fatigue on the faces of the people. After reaching the station I once again looked back at the city which had made a place in my heart within a few hours.

when I boarded the train I looked out of the window and saw that there was only a faint golden light left in the sky. The rain had now stopped but its smell was still there on the ground. The train started slowly, and that evening in Surat remained in my memories forever. While sitting on the way, I was thinking that this journey was not just a journey, but an opportunity to stop, feel and rediscover myself.

When the train reached Vadodara, it was night. But the peace in the heart was above every tiredness. I realized that the real beauty of a place is not just in its buildings or markets, but in the path we feel in the raindrops, the passing winds and the unknown faces that become a part of our journey.
