Hello hivers! I love landscapes, especially sunsets. From my balcony, I'm lucky enough to enjoy them every evening and take photos. However, when it comes to painting and drawing landscapes, I don't think they're my forte 😬. I draw animals, birds, faces, etc., but landscapes are something I need to focus on more, so there's nothing better for improving my skills than practice 😉.
Hoy me inspiré en uno de los miles de atardeceres de mi ciudad para realizar este dibujo con creyones de óleo pastel. Utilicé mi block de dibujo, lápiz, borrador, creyones de óleo pastel y un poquito de papel higiénico. Un boceto sencillo y manos a la obra 🖍️🖐🏻.
Today I was inspired by one of the thousands of sunsets in my city to create this drawing with oil pastel crayons. I used my sketchbook, pencil, eraser, oil pastel crayons, and a little bit of toilet paper. A simple sketch and then I got to work 🖍️🖐🏻.
Este atardecer semi nublado presenta un cielo medianamente despejado y azul de un lado y del otro lado predoninan las nubes grises y oscuras de un tono azul. A pesar de eso algunos rayos de sol de intenso amarillo pueden percibirse entre las hojas del romero. Como no me queda creyón blanco usé el blanco de la hoja y el azul claro para dibujarlas.
This partly cloudy sunset presents a moderately clear, blue sky on one side, while on the other, dark, bluish-gray clouds predominate. Despite this, a few rays of intense yellow sunlight can be seen through the rosemary leaves. Since I'm out of white crayon, I used the white of the paper and light blue to draw them.
En el primer plano de este paisaje hay dos plantas, un romero a la izquierda y un toronjil o hierba Luisa a la derecha, los coloreé con verde oscuro. También empecé a darle color a las nubes con gris y azul oscuro y lo difuminé con papel higiénico para un acabado más natural.
In the foreground of this landscape are two plants, rosemary on the left and lemon balm on the right. I colored them dark green. I also started coloring the clouds with gray and dark blue and blended it with toilet paper for a more natural finish.
Como el sol cae detrás de esa montaña eso me genera un efecto de contraluz así que usé negro para colorear la montaña y así intensificar ese efecto visual.
Since the sun sets behind that mountain, it creates a backlighting effect, so I used black to color the mountain and thus intensify that visual effect.
Las plantas también quedan a contraluz así que para lograr el efecto oscuro apliqué la teoría del color, la cual me indica que las sombras se realizan con el color opuesto, en este caso, el opuesto del verde es el rojo así que lo usé para remarcar las plantas y efectivamente el resultado es muy realista.
The plants are also backlit, so to achieve the dark effect I applied color theory, which tells me that shadows are made with the opposite color, in this case, the opposite of green is red, so I used it to highlight the plants, and indeed the result is very realistic.
