My Homemade Vanilla Cake(Beginner Recipe)

in Hive Learners6 days ago

I have always loved the idea of making desserts and everything else that falls under confectioneries. During the time where I had this idea to explore the art of baking, my priority was not to learn for the sake of turning it into a business. I simply wanted to learn because I found it exciting. I didn't want to do too much with it, I just needed to have that ability to bake something nice enough to be eaten by my family and I.

Fortunately, I found the time to learn from my sister, and ever since then, I have been a huge fan of DIY food projects. Today, I will be sharing a simple process for making homemade vanilla cake for the Hive Learners #creative-sunday campaign. This was my first ever trial, so it might be more useful for beginners who want to bake for the first time.

Ingredients Used:

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp white vanilla flavour

All-purpose flour(200g)

Granulated sugar(100g)

Melted butter(90g)

5 raw eggs

A glass of whole milk

Baking Process:

I started by cleaning and cracking the eggs into a bowl. Then, I whisked lightly to break them up. You must know that eggs are important for adding moisture and richness to a cake.

Next, I added my melted butter into the same bowl and stirred until it blended properly with the eggs. I chose melted butter for this because I wanted a denser cake texture.

After that, I poured in the sugar + milk and stirred generously. This added more moisture and helped balance the consistency of the batter later on.

This was what the mixture looked like after the first three steps.

Next, I used a sieve to sift the flour and baking powder into a separate bowl. This was to ensure that the lumps that could affect the texture of the batter were seperated. I then added the sifted flour and powder to the wet mixture and stirred continuously until the batter became as smooth as possible.

Afterwards, I greased the cake pan with a small amount of butter and dusted it lightly with flour. I went on to place a parchment paper in the pan before pouring in the cake mixture.

I went ahead to place the cake in the oven and baked it for about 30 minutes. Before the last minute, I inserted a toothpick into the center of the cake. It came out clean, and I knew the cake was ready.

End Result:

Finally, I removed the cake from the oven and placed it on a cooling rack. I cut the cake into slices after the cooling rack had become warm. This vanilla cake didn't turn out bad, even though the body was a little burnt. But who said first time bakers can't make a mistake?🙂 Anyway, it was really tasty and I could resist eating it everyday until it got finished.

Note: What I enjoyed most about baking this cake was how stress-free the process was. With minimal effort, I ended up with a whole cake to myself. I hope to share more baking recipes as I continue to participate in the creative sunday campaigns.
