Greetings everyone!
This past Easter celebration, I had a strong urge to go on a holiday at home. I just wanted to travel home, get away from work, eat excessively, and bond with family. But that did not happen because my schedule was so tight, there was no way to escape it, and also, the funds to finance such a trip were not available—or let me say, the money was there, but not what I had budgeted for earlier.
After that, I just knew that the only holiday I would be having next is the December holiday. Yes, it is that far away, and that is the reality of my current hustling situation.
My kind of hustling is such that I do not have time for holidays unless I personally decide to break my own protocol to experience one, which is doable, but for now, I am not yet at that point. The upcoming general holidays, such as Nigerian Independence Day—which many organizations observe and people use the opportunity to travel and have fun for two to three days—still do not fit into my schedule. I simply do not have the time to experience them with premium relaxation or travel.
How will I spend my next holiday?
Like I said earlier, it is going to be the Christmas holiday, and I have a special way of celebrating that.
Traveling home is a must:
At this point in my life, the only place that interests me for travel is my home village, and that is one of the major things I always look forward to during my holidays. Seeing family members after many months of being away is a big flex.
I wish to experience the lifestyle of traveling out of the country to a beautiful place—with family, wife, fiancée, or children—to have fun during the holiday. But for now, the only place that interests me is my family house at home.
Food cannot be taken away:
Up till today, my family back home is still involved in substantial farming, which always ensures that we have food in abundance.
One of the things I look forward to during the holidays is food, and the hometown is the only place I can get that and eat free of charge without stressing about how to go about feeding—unlike my place of residence. There, I live alone and sometimes have to think a lot before deciding what to eat. I cannot imagine spending my holiday in such a place because it would feel just like my routine and nothing special—unless I adapt to eating out at restaurants.
My home village gives us the opportunity to eat and gain weight within the space of a week. Who would take food away from the holiday experience? Absolutely no one—except for the spiritual folks who prefer to have their holidays with endless fasting.
I am patiently waiting for the next Christmas holiday to come. Let it come quickly.
