Not sure if you were trying to preempt downvotes from the bullies who go around removing rewards because they think a post earned "too much" as if their opinion is more important than all the people who upvoted because they have deep pockets or kissed the right asses, but I don't think your post deserved a downvote from yourself.(maybe you are one of those bullies?)

Sadly, this is a preemptive move on my part… I’ve noticed that whenever my post gets close to $22 in pending rewards, it almost always receives an automatic downvote of around $8–$9 (from a whale who doesn't even make an effort to read my post or comment to justify their downvote). This has been happening consistently for the past 3 months, so I’m pretty sure this post will get hit soon too.
I really do appreciate your upvote, but would you mind unvoting it? 😅 Or maybe reducing it to just 1%? I'm already happy just knowing you read my post and even took the time to leave a comment.

Well, I hated to do that, lost me VP and curation, but I'd rather you not get hit for more because of me. It's very lame that you actually had to ask me nicely to remove my vote, such an upside-down situation.
I see that downvote nonsense going on and thought that might the case, I'm sorry that you're on the receiving end of it...I think downvotes are necessary (otherwise I'd go over to Blurt), but I think they should be used for actual abuse like plagiarism or kiddy porn or solicitations to violence,...things that are actually against the community rules or are illegal, not for perceived "abuse" or capping earnings.

I feel conflicted about it, to be honest. It’s a tough choice because by self-downvoting, I’m also reducing the curation rewards of those who support me. That’s why I’m trying my best to add more value to my posts by including research whenever I have extra time.
And yeah, it feels like some downvoters are taking the easy route... just targeting posts they believe are over-rewarded. Maybe it gives them a sense of doing good for the platform, like a pat on the back. But if they truly care about fair downvoting, there are real abuses they could focus on (like the ones you mentioned).
That said, dealing with actual abuse on the platform is no easy task. And it's also tricky to expect whale downvoters to handle it all. It might be asking too much to expect them to actively fight plagiarism or spam, especially if they lack the time or resources to do so. 😓
The funny thing about some of those people is that they'll post something that's genuinely low effort and make $30 every time but never consider their own posts over-rewarded
