Don't worry brother, I am in same boat. My wife just cannot understand how I can follow all her instructions and still end up with something which is not great like hers. However I do have one good survival trait. I end up liking what I cook, possible because of the effort of cooking. So at least I can eat it, but others mostly cannot :D

Only answer is to keep cooking I guess. Keep trying one dish till you get it right.
