The best weekends are the one which are unplanned, spontaneous, and filled with joy. It comes to me with a surprise packages. All credit goes to some of my silly friends, who came all along to pick me up for a welcome lunch. A Good weekends accompanied with silly companions create the best memories and other happened to me yesterday. With no plan in place and just to enjoy each other company we ended up at the magnificent Naivedyam Restaurant.
Naivedyam is the place to be for authentic South Indian food. I happen to enjoy all kind of meals but lately missing the pure authentic South Indian food touch. So we went ahead to one of the popular destination. Big bold lcookedon a wooden plate right at the entrance does welcome us.
The word Naivedya comes from Nivedana, which means ‘to offer’. Naivedyam is any cooked food offered to the deity. Upon offering, it is assumed that the God has accepted it and when we partake it, it becomes “prasadam” (blessing) from the God.
So the restaursnt in a way offering the prasadam ton its customer. The place is nicely set up and we exlerinced a difcerent aura as soon as we stepped inside the wooden gate outside the mall.

As I am in New Delhi, my friends wanted to have meeting while savoring upon some meals. There were many option to chose from, but I insisted on South indian food. It has been since many days that I have not tasted the real authentic South dishes. South dishes the use of generous coconut in their curries make them super delicies. While the North food have similar texture and spices, South Indian dishes are much more light weight and are prebiotic- rich. Naivedyam promises to take you right into the interiors of South India and give the best South Indian fine dining experiences. The ambience of the place is pretty much attract anyone to enjoy the place.
Naivedyam is one such restaurant outlet that offers great south indian food at extremely affordable prices. Being late afternoon around 2, the place is not crowded, and we found the restaurant has ample space to accomodate 100-150 customers. Adding an authentic touch to the place, the chefs and the serving boys were in Indian dhoti-kurta attire. It was a pleasant experince.
We we welcome to the place with a glass of water and a warm glass of rasam. It was the welcome drink., like we take soup before any meals, they have this traditional spicy drink to welcome their customers. Soon a big menu book were placed in front of us to choose from the varieties of food item to choose from.
We already getting some good vibes at the place. We started our chi-chat while sipping the hot rasam drink. In between We also ordered our food for the day. As usual it going to be my favourite Masala Dosa
I think Masala dosa is one of the most serving south indian dishes. Especially when people get to enjoy the south indian food while sitting in Norther parts of India. South indian may have opted for some other items but for mos of the people who were not from.sputh like us, we were more familiar with Masala Dosa. Made up of rice and other stuffs. It is very crispy and thin, like a paper. It is a roasted dosa served with potato curry, chutney and sambar.
Tweek a little bite dip into the coconut chutney and eat it. And to add some spice to.it, enjoy the warm sambar delicies served along. We enjoyed them completelly. After munching them.in no time, we order another item. This time we went for Dahi-vada
Dahi Vada is the popular south-Indian dish, in which the yogurt is seasoned with a tempering made with curry leaves.
Dahi Vadas soaked in fresh sweet curd. Seasoned with natural aromatic herbs and spices is very tempting. It just dilute in the mouth. Very soft and fruppy. Making to this place is no regret. It made a good day,having some authentic delicies in the company of good friends. After all is 18 years of togetherness.
Naevedyam was a good bet this Sundsy. One of the better places to have south indian food when you are craving for it. We were lucky enough to find them very empty in odd hours. The service is usually very fast. The food that we ordered hardly took 8-9 minutes to be served. No regret as far as the tastes are concerned. A great Sunday with great food and friends makes it too memorsble and valuable.
