On March 25, I had the chance to visit Societa Pastry: Croissant & Ciao. The first three months of 2025 had been difficult for me to visit any café due to lack of time. Mainly, work hadn't allowed me the freedom or space for my hobby.

I went to this place to reconnect with my friend Marian and to celebrate my birthday with her. We decided to go to this café located in the Fundalara urbanization, specifically on Capanaparo Avenue, house #197, in front of the Los Cardones building, in the east of Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela.

I had been planning this get-together for months, but matching Marian’s and my schedules was quite a challenge. Mainly because she’s been traveling a lot, and I’ve been managing the company. A mix of responsibilities—not impossible, but tricky. We finally managed to meet up, and that’s what mattered.

I arrived before Marian. The entrance has a sophisticated style—dynamic and elegant, I’d say. It’s not very minimalist. There’s a clear transformation of the original use of the building. The house was adapted to incorporate the café.

People walked calmly along the avenue, and you could easily spot the café’s façade, located among other businesses. This creates a commercial synergy—people tend to visit places where there are more stores.

Once inside, I sat near the window. The view was lovely. You could see the avenue from two different angles—one more subtle than the other. I found it quite pleasant.

While waiting for Marian, I took some photos of the café and how impressive it was. I liked the design on one of the walls that read "Societa Pastry"—perfectly aligned with the overall style. The furniture was cozy, and the blue cushions added a calming interior design effect.

The café is small, the tables are in different colors, and each wall has a unique design. The wall art is attractive. The barista area is also immersive. Everything is perfectly integrated.

One thing I particularly liked was a portrait of a puppy. It was adorable—I love art. I used to draw, but I’ve become a bit mechanical, mostly because of work. Things shape you in different ways. But the small details still manage to make life pleasant.

12.jpg

Other charming details in the café included flower vases, the visible espresso machine, specialty coffee from Hacienda Santa María distributed by Impetu (with notes of honey, peach, chocolate, and milk), and a beautiful photo of the general manager of Societa Pastry—who also happens to be that adorable puppy!

There were cookies displayed for sale on the counter. I loved how nicely they were presented and arranged. Without a doubt, the café pays attention to every detail.

Marian arrived, and the barista brought us the menu. Marian and I chatted for quite a while—we hadn’t seen each other in over a year. I must say, the experience was very enjoyable. She shared what she’d been going through, and I told her everything I’d been doing. I’m going through a personal transformation.

The menu design was simple yet matched the café's aesthetic. We chose this spot because they serve croissants (which I love). Marian ordered a Lacle—according to the menu, it’s a crunchy croissant filled with Italian mortadella, shaved Manchego, alfalfa, and super spicy mayo-sriracha. I went for the pistachio croissant.

15.jpg

To drink, Marian ordered something called Paraíso, and I (of course) got a cinnamon coffee. Our order took around 10 minutes. While the barista prepared it, we kept chatting.

10.jpg

I laughed a lot that day and encouraged Marian to make some life decisions; she’s younger than me and her family has Spanish citizenship. I even told her that my paternal family has Italian heritage and blood rights—but my legal case is very complicated.

The croissants were the first to arrive at the table. I took several pictures of each one. I loved the presentation and how they were served. Even the utensils were beautiful.

I also took a photo of my pistachio croissant over the café's logo. I loved the scene—it looked amazing. I was fully in foodie and coffee mode.

9.jpg

I’m a lover of elegant, beautiful things—but also of precious moments. Those that I can keep and write about. That’s why I love telling these stories. Just look at this scene—tell me it’s not lovely.

The coffee was incredible. I told the barista it was the best I’d had in all of Barquisimeto. The flavor was spectacular, with an amazing sweetness. It was the first time I’d ever had cinnamon coffee at a café.

5.jpg

Alongside the coffee, they served some small cookies with an amazing flavor. They were firm and mildly sweet—which I really liked. I told Marian I’d never tasted cookies like those before. I ordered seven more: three to take home and four for Marian to try.

I liked that the cookies were packed in a labeled container. I also ordered a croissant to go for my brother. The way they packed it was wonderful—I didn’t take a photo of it (you can’t capture everything).

2.jpg

The final anecdote: they sang happy birthday to someone at the café, and we also had some cake. The total bill came to $35 (or HBD). I paid in Venezuelan legal tender. This is a magical café that draws you in and makes you feel its charm.
