I recently visited Sullivans Coffee Lounge for the first time, as I was just in the area and fancied breakfast and a good cup of coffee. There was free parking just down the road.

One thing I noticed straight away was that there were lots of references to boxer dogs around the café. There was also a boxer dog there during my visit, so I think the owners may have one themselves.

The dog seemed very popular, and even the postman popped in to say hello to it!

I ordered a cappuccino made with oat milk and a vegetarian breakfast. The food and drink were both very good. I also enjoyed lots of chocolate sprinkles on my coffee and a biscuit. The prices were a little higher than I would normally pay, but I felt I got more for my money. The breakfast was a good size and kept me full for the rest of the day.

I also saw some pictures on the wall featuring local Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire dialect phrases. One said, "Aye up, duck", a friendly greeting that means "hello", with duck being a term of affection. Another read, "Come in n mek thi sen at ome", which translates to "Come in and make yourself at home".

There was also outdoor seating available, which would be a nice option on a pleasant day. However, the weather was quiet hot, so I chose to sit inside rather than in the direct sunlight. The indoor seating was comfortable and provided a cool place to relax. I could also stroke the dog as well! What I liked most was the relaxed atmosphere and the friendly staff. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to Sullivans Coffee Lounge and will definitely call in again when I’m next in the area.
