The more we age, the less we get to spend time with our old friends. As our priorities as young adults already revolve around building a career, it is quite challenging to find a common time to meet with old friends. Nowadays, sadly, there are just a few reasons why friends get together again. For an instance, I and my high school friends found a chance to have dinner together last night since one from the group, who is working in Vietnam, came home to the Philippines for a short stay.
Yesterday, I received a short-notice invitation for a dinner-out. We decided to all meet halfway and decided that it would be Il Corso, an establishment situated in the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu. Along the coastal road of SRP, lined up various restaurants and food stalls. You can also find here the Il Corso Filinvest Mall, which I believe just recently opened to the public.
We had dinner at one of the famous lechon restaurants in Cebu – Rico’s Lechon. This dish is one of the trademarks of our province Cebu. For the information of everybody, lechon is a roasted pig. Its crunchy skin and juicy meat is what makes lechon a favorite dish not just of locals but also of tourists. Unfortunately, when we ordered, their lechon was already sold out! We were dismayed but we decided to order another dish and still eat at the restaurant.
While waiting for our orders, we had a lot of catching up to do since it was two years ago that we last saw one another. We discovered a lot of new things happening around and also had a lot of laughter. It was as if we went back in time, when we were in our teenage years, talking endlessly and laughing at silly jokes inside our high school classroom.
After our dinner, we stayed in a café for another two hours of catching up and laughing. If we could, we would not end the night but reality hits us in the face and made us realize that we still have early morning responsibilities for the next day.
We parted ways with tight hugs. While we easily get occupied by the busyness of work and life routine, last night reminded me how to enjoy some nights with friends and how time with them made me feel happy. Sometimes, we need a little breather in this chaotic life.
Thank you for reading my post up to this point.
I'll take delight in writing for you again soon.
Love,
