We have a town in Michigan named Paradise. It doesn't look anything like these places. It is a pretty cool area of the state though. That's interesting about the birds too. I just had a pork dish at one of our local Mexican restaurants that was inspired by cuisine from the Yucatan Peninsula.
I hope it was some good pork! Mexican places can make amazingly tender pork, so many great dishes. I haven't bee to the Yucatan Peninsula in so many years now, it's a pretty place.
Paradise, Michigan... Whoever first established the place must have really loved the area.
It wasn't as good as the same dish I had at a different place, but it was still pretty decent.
If you look online you can find really authentic recipes that are very easy to make at home. And since you can smoke meat on the grill you could make some really good pork at home and just experiment with the spices from different recipes. I do miss the food I could get in El Paso, TX or Las Cruces, NM, the style of Mexican food there is awesome!
I really want to visit New Mexico and Arizona one day. Good point about the smoking. It's hard though because my wife doesn't eat pork like that, so it's a lot of work for just me to eat it.
