The Indian Food Pani Puri at A Concert

Hello good people on hive...

When it comes to Indian food, I always choose biryani. It's my favorite dish because it has soft, textured rice and a generous portion. To finish one portion of biryani, I have to split it in half and have some leftover for the next day, because one portion of biryani is equivalent to two meals for me. When it comes to biryani, I have no choice but to say, "I have to eat it." I won't refuse it.

But when it comes to snacks, there are a few that I really enjoy and find very palatable. I love samosas—which are like bala-bala with a rich filling—and pani puri. It's a famous street food. It's interesting to experience pani puri like in the movies. I've had pani puri in Malaysia, but it didn't have gravy, so I felt it wasn't authentic, even though the seller was an Indonesian.

Pani Puri by Le Mint Restaurant

Well, when there was a concert with India Club yesterday, there was a lot of Indian food, and I was immediately drawn to the pani puri sold by Le Mint restaurant. I saw that the Pani Puri they were selling was still affordable, so I didn't miss the opportunity to try Pani Puri with gravy, just like the Pani Puri I see in Indian movies.

Look at this Puri in a jar. When I saw it, I was completely tempted. I wanted to taste its crunchiness, and the potatoes inside, and I was curious to see if this Pani Puri had gravy. I definitely wanted gravy, no matter what it tasted like, on this second try—after the one from Kuala Lumpur the other day, I wanted to try that gravy too. And finally, I got that gravy.

The waiter who served this was very clean. He was wearing gloves, and the gravy he served me filled the Puri. I was thrilled to get what I wanted—Real Pani Puri…

For four Pani Puri, I paid around IDR 25,000. That's quite a high price considering that Pani Puri is actually a street food, and it's certainly very affordable. Compared to the ones in Kuala Lumpur, this is certainly more expensive. Of course, buying it at an event can be a bit pricey. But that's okay, because this is my first time buying Pani Puri in Jakarta. I wouldn't have been able to find it on the streets.

Besides Pani Puri, Le Mint apparently sells other street foods like Samosas and curries. They also apparently serve parathas, biryani, and masala dosas… Hopefully, I'll have the chance to try other Indian dishes. I'm looking forward to it.

Hasta La Vista...

I love how you described your excitement over the pani puri—could totally imagine the crunch, the potatoes, and the gravy filling it up. It really feels like you took us along with you to the concert. The price might be a bit higher, but trying it in Jakarta with that real gravy experience sounds worth it.
