I want to share that this is the first time in my life I've tasted and experienced what Klapertar tastes and looks like. This is because it's a Manado specialty, so I've never seen it before, even though I've heard its name in books.
As I mentioned before, my coworker has many side businesses. There's dim sum, squid sambal, cheesecake, and most recently, Cinnamon Rolls and Klapertar. So when my friend, whose Cinnamon Rolls I've ordered, also opened pre-orders for Klapertar. Since I had no idea what Klapertar was like, I was excited to be the first to order. I ordered the smallest size—if I'm not mistaken, the 500mg one for IDR 75,000—and this is the Klapertar...
After this beautiful Klapertar arrived in front of me, it turned out to be a cake filled with coconut, custard, almonds, and raisins. Wow! Isn't it beautiful? You wouldn't believe it if I said it was delicious. The coconut filling was very creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness. The baker claimed that this klapertar was a failure because it wasn't sweet enough, but for me, the sweetness was just right.
The filling reminds me of durian. The texture is very similar.
I finished this 500 mg Klapertar alone. It wasn't all in one go, though. I made it for breakfast and dessert after lunch. I didn't eat any other snacks that day. I felt incredibly full that day.
