Hello! I hope everyone's having a nice weekend. I'm taking a good rest after making cake orders recently and to regain my energy for another order next week. Meanwhile, flood has begun to subside now after two typhoons. I'm hoping the weather is going to be fair on the upcoming days!
So I thought of making a jelly cake with drawing to celebrate Babymetal's first ever concert in the Philippines which will happen in less than two weeks!
The group release their latest album just last month and as I listened to the songs on repeat, I think the song kxwxaxixi is really catchy and different from the rest on the list. And this inspired me to create a jelly cake.

First step, I drew the girls in cute or chibi form because making a realistic art out of gelatine is a boss level thing and I'm far from being on that level..yet. Sorry, I can't show the whole process but as you can see, I used the drawing I made as a guide for my gelatine drawing.
And after a painstaking process, I have successfully drawn on gelatine. The size of this drawing is approximately 3"x5". And the katakana characters "カワイイ" written above means "kawaii" or cute. Aren't they cute? Lol.
Then I proceeded with the usual process of making a jelly cake. I only decorated the bottom area and left more than half open. This open space will serve as the window for the gelatine art.
Of course, after decorating, it's time to put the drawing over the jelly cake. That is how it looks from the back. Everything has to be inverted when making jelly cake. It can sometimes be confusing so it's important to always have presence of mind.
Moment of truth! After chilling the cake overnight, it's time to unmold! You know, I still find it difficult to center the cake into the cakeboard!
Tadah! The cake looks simple with less flowers decorations. I was supposed to add more flowers on the sides but it was a good decision not to because the drawings could've been obstructed. I prefered it to be simple so the drawing would stand out.
Of course, I would never let this chance to slip from my Babymetal funko toys to have their photo op with the cake!
They looked like they're observing the cake on this photo. Lol
Anyway, I'm really satisfied with the outcome of the cake I made. Drawing using gelatine is really exhausting and requires attention to detail but at the same time, this delivers a huge satsfaction especially when you flipped the cake and saw that it turned out great. Thank God for making it happen—for me to learn how to make jelly cakes and even draw on it. The size of this cake, by the way, is 7 inches.
I hope Babymetal and the crowd get to have a nice and kawaii experience on the Manila show! For now, I would enjoy them being drawn on a jelly cake!
Thanks for reading! 💚
