After bowling lunch venue was a great success!

Every week after bowling we go to a different spot for lunch and drinks afterwards. For a lot of the people that go bowling with us this is the main reason for going to the lanes with us. It isn't really just about the sport, it is about the social-aspect of things and to explore a new restaurant or pub as a group.

Last week a place that I had never been to before and is relatively new called "Pizza Lo" was nominated and to a certain degree I allow the masses to make that choice on their own. The only thing I will veto is if they want us to go to a place that is known for being too busy because it is difficult for me to do the award ceremony when most of the restaurant or pub that we are at is filled with locals or tourists that are not involved in what we are doing.

I was fearful that this place wasn't going to be all that good but it was actually really nice.

We had a really good turnout this week of nearly 30 bowlers so the first thing that we needed was for the establishment that we go to needing to be large enough for us. They had more than enough seating for all of us and this was just wonderful.

Since it is near the beach, they were going for a tropical kind of look for the joint and this is fine for now, but when we get to the summertime I can see this being a real problem for them. They are going to need to invest in a great many fans because even though the temps were very manageable 25 (Celsius), the people in the sun were still getting a bit hot.

The place wasn't just large, but it was also dare i say, kind of classy compared to other places that we normally go. I really enjoyed the nice cushions on the seats. Comfortable seating is actually pretty rare here in Da Nang where a lot of places focus on just cramming as many people into an area as possible, many places just have stackable plastic chairs and say what you will, but I want my bum cheeks to be comfortable.

Whoever owns this place apparently has a penchant for classic bicycles and motorbikes and the ones they had on display all seemed legit to me. It's just a nice touch to have something that is a bit different here in Da Nang because so much of what we have here is just a carbon copy of something else nearby.

While we didn't use it they also had a pool table and two fooseball tables as well. I can see us coming here in the future and perhaps sticking around and playing some other competitive stuff instead of just bowling.

It wasn't just the great ambiance though, the staff were really organized and they spoke pretty great English as well. While we try to be as accommodating as possible, it is important to us that we have separate checks and even though there was 25 of us in attendance, every single person's bill was accurate when they paid up in the end.

The place mainly focuses on pizza, and they had a buy 1 get one free special going on. Between all of us we ordered at least 30 pizzas and I was really impressed with how quickly they got them out to us. This really impressed me because the pizza was also quite good. In this town there is kind of a rule when it comes to pizza, if it is fast, it isn't going to be good; if it is good, it isn't going to be fast. Pizza Lo somehow managed to be able to do both. Drinks were priced very fairly as well and they had a lot of good options for non alcoholic drinks as well as having 14 beers on tap.

We will definitely return. If you happen to ever be visiting Da Nang or if you live in the area, this place really impressed me but that being said, they do have two locations in town and the other one kind of sucks. So make sure you go to the correct one

I think the reason why this one is good and the other one is not is because the other one is right on the beach where restaurants and pubs don't have to be good at anything and are still going to be busy. That seems to be the way that it is everywhere in the world that I have ever visited.

Sort:

Sounds like a winner and you guys will return in the future for sure. The added bonus of the pool table means it could be a late night or an all dayer as you guys play the bowling mid morning.

it's also within walking distance of the house of one of our grouchiest members who normally finds a reason to complain about anything. Now she can just walk her fussy ass on home when she inevitably finds issue with something happening there.

I'm a foosball master. We used to have one.. we played every day

I was really good in college because the hippies that were my best friends all hung out at a place that didn't even have a pool table if you can imagine such a place. Instead, they had 3 fooseball tables and the competition was pretty awesome there. We had a ton of rules that extended well beyond no spinning and it was pretty intense. I got really good from the back line and if playing doubles with a competent person playing offense I was often able to nail that sweet spot gap between the 3 man offense where if the person doesn't switch over fast enough I can absolutely slam it all the way down and make that "BANG" sound of the back of the net on the back end. My favorite type of goal involved a back pass to the keeper utilizing the same gap and had developed a backswing on the keeper (without spinning) that was just oh so glorious when it worked. I called that one a "downtown."

Damn. That sounds like a great time. I'd have loved to be there. Id get another one for the house if I had room

Buy one get one free pizza, with beer on tap. That is perfect. Im there if I ever would visit. I love to play pool and fooseball while in a group setting as well. Betting beers on games, LOL.

it's a fantastic place for me to gain a bunch of weight. I'll have to stay away from there outside of important events :)

It looks like a really nice place. Kind of reminds me of a Mexican Steakhouse that we have down by the river in the next town over. That's pretty impressive that they had 14 beers on tap. Even places over here are pretty rare to have that many unless it is a bit more upscale or caters specifically to beer drinkers. I'm glad you found this place!

yeah it's pretty great but so big that I can only imagine that it would be a great place to visit in a large group. The problem with very large establishments is that they need to have a ton of people visiting them in order to have the appearance of success. This is probably a big part of the reason why many of the dive bars here do better than the much nicer large places... just 6 people in one of those joints and the place looks slammin.

Those are some good points! Nothing worse than a place with more tables than you can turn over in a reasonable amount of time!
