A few days I ago I made a post about picking a wrong place for a business meeting. I think it would not be fair if I do not share a place as a good reference or proper reference.
So through this post, I will share a place that is very well known, and it is not made for business meeting however I find that the place is good one for it.
It is McDonald's. This sounds funny but it is in fact a good place to have some meetings. During certain hours on weekdays, the place is not packed with people especially children and that's one of the condition we need for a business meeting.
However it is not for a meeting that talk about multi millions dollar deal. We should get a better place for that, for a general, not limited to business issue, McDonald's Indonesia is a good place for it.
The place is nice and neat, and clean... that's the most important thing. I had this meeting around 15:00 pm, so no children around and the place was quiet enough so I could hold a good conversation without any disturbance.
The only bad thing is that we can not call any waitress to take our order. We need to come to the counter and make our order. So flexibility is an issue there however if you want to have a quick meeting, that's a good thing actually. We can end our meeting quickly, without thinking about billing and others because all are settled in front.
This was my order, and it costed me around 2 USD. Is this cheap for you or not? For me it is, because a coffee shop could charge me $5 just for a cup of coffee.
But it is not a bargain too, because the portion is small. There I put my hand on the burger, so you can see the comparison between my hand and the fries and burger.
Ok let's talk about the good points here.
McDonald's has the best fries among all the fast food franchise. I think most Indonesian, especially from Jakarta, agree with me. Some outlet give a bit worse one, too salty or maybe too cold, but still... It is better than most of the fries out there, except from fancy or specialty restaurant.
However we need to be careful eating fries during meeting. Sometime we need to hold paper, hold pen, write something or hand shake. Remember you will use the same hand and the same finger for doing all of them lol.
The last, it is their coffee. It is not excellent but it is good enough to compete with coffee shop who sell their coffee at $2-3 for a cup or a glass of coffee. So with the same price, you get the same level of coffee and an extra burger and fries. I think that's the winning point.
But still.... don't pick McDonalds for meeting during weekends... You will end up in the sea of children and forget about having a good place to talk and listen.
The Burger
Before I end this post, let me tell you about the burger. I am not a fan of McDonald's burger, and I have mentioned it several times before in my older posts.
However Let me describe it again here, so my opinion about this burger doesn't become a black campaign of it.
In general, the burger is good, and they are cheap. Cheaper than the other international burger-chain franchise.
The bread is good, I mean the bun. It is not the bun that is burnt, grilled or fried, so you can expect there won't be a smokey flavor coming from the bun. If there is, it comes from the patty.
And here is the reason why I am not a fan of McDonald's burger. Their vegetable is bad. I mean it is ok but I get no fresh taste from it, as if I am eating a raw stir fried vegetable.
The patty? I can say it is not special, Burger King and Carl's Jr are a lot better. Yes, A Lot. I am not saying it is bad, some still like it, but for me... if you sell international burger, the patty should not lose from some local street food burger cart.
