Hello Asean Hive Community
A few weeks ago I wrote something about catfish in my post here. It was a deep fried catfish, the food was very popular in the past. Well it is still popular, but nowadays many people have explicitly expressed their dislike on the catfish dish.
Most of the reason was because catfish was a dirty fish, they eat shits. Well not completely wrong, but not all catfish are feed with human shits lol. I do not like catfish because they tend to be smelly due to wrong preparation in how to cook it.

Well catfish is LELE in indonesia, and fried catfish is pecel lele. In the past people came to Pecel Lele stall to get their catfishes. You can see they write Lele Goreng (fried Catfish), Lele Kremes (Catfish with grated coconut), and Lele bakar (Grilled Catfish).
However I rarely see people ordering catfish anymore, there are some, but not like in the past. I am one of them too, I often come to catfish stall but I order non catfish food. I love their coconut rice and their chili paste, that's why I often come to catfish street food stall.

One of the signature of catfish stall is cat. I do not know how, maybe because of the smell, cats always linger around catfish stall. They will sit nicely there but once your food is served on your table, they will come and ask for their share.
They, yes they, because one stall like here would have 3 cats waiting inside the tend. So this is not a good place for you who scare of cats.

So this was my order a few days ago. I order nasi uduk and pecel ayam. Pecel ayam stands for fried chicken. For most street food stall like this, the tea is free. But some charge you for it, they need extra margin for sure.
Anyway the free ice tea is a free flow too. Of course sweet tea and ice tea are excluded from freebies everywhere.

This is nasi uduk, it is very similar to nasi lemak. For you who have not known those rice, let me explain more here. Nasi Uduk is a steamed rice with coconut milk, very similar to Nasi Lemak. Nasi uduk is an Indonesian traditional cuisine from Java Island and Nasi Lemak is one of Malay cuisine.
However the different is not where they are originated from. Nasi uduk has a lighter taste, their coconut flavor is not as strong as nasi lemak. However Nasi uduk focuses on savory taste, with their extra spices such as Cinnamon, bay leaves and cloves.

Well this is my main dish anyway, fried chicken with some extra tofu and soy cake. They give some "fresh" vegetable, but it is "fresh" lol. Most street food stalls give vegetable as formality only, as you can see nothing seems fresh and appealing from those veggie.
What most important from this dish is their chili paste. Each stall has their own chili paste recipe, so it differs from one to another. However all their food are typical, a deep fried one. So the taste from the chicken and other side dishes are not different, they tend to be similar.
Exception for catfish, it is different because they need to get the right size and deliver the marinating and seasoning hours before. However I do not eat catfish here lol, as many people do not too.
Ok that's for today post. Thanks for coming and reading my post and God Bless You all.
