Trying Out Davino Pizzeria

in Eating Out7 days ago

Hi there. In this food post, I cover my experiences at Davino Pizzeria. This one was located east of Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the Durham region.

About Divino Pizzeria

Divino Pizzeria is an italian restaurant and bar that specializes in pizzas. They also have steaks and other Italian dishes.

Pictures below from internet (not mine).

Food + Photos

Two of us got one pizza each (Spicy Sausage and I forgot the second one). I got a 10oz New York Striploin because I wanted steak that day. The fourth person got Seared Salmon which came with a risotto.

Pizzas

The pizza sizes were big even though it was for a single person. I did have a few bites of both pizzas. They were good in flavour with the bottom being lightly toasted.

Seared Salmon + Risotto

I did have a little of the salmon and risotto to taste. The salmon was okay to me but it was something I could maybe cook at home. The risotto was good. I don't eat risotto often so I cannot tell if a risotto is amazing or not.

New York Striploin - My Pick

For the New York Striploin, I went with Medium well. This dish came with seasonal vegetables, parmesan mashed potatoes and potatoes. The meat was good overall with a few good fatty pieces.

Bonus Dessert Round

It was my dad's birthday coming up so he gets a free dessert. There were options for dessert for him but he did not know what to get. Our server decided for him. He got a Panna Cotta dessert with a goose berry on top.

If you gave a review of the restaurant, you got a free dessert. My brother got a Strawberry Shortcake gelato dessert. I chose Cherry for my gelato. There was a third Mojito option.

Cherry gelato at bottom, Strawberry Shortcake gelato top left.

Each dessert had a price of 10 CAD. Getting free dessert in exchange for giving reviews was nice.

Closing Notes

Our first visit to Divino Pizzeria and Bar was very good. The bar area is actually not that big as it looked like it seated 5 people near the front doors.

We got a table by the wall which was a good spot. It was a good thing we reserved our table in advance as it was busy. Near the end of our meal, a large group of 10-12 people arrived at around 8PM.

For the Google review to get free dessert, I gave a 5 out of 5 for service, a 5 for atmosphere and a 4 out of 5 for the food. I though the food was good but not amazing.

Total came to 140.12 CAD. As Canada has a tipping culture, the credit card machine asks for either 18%, 20% or 22% tip. (Kind of mad if you ask me). The true total comes to something like 165 CAD.

This place is nice and I would visit again maybe in two months times. Dining out at Italian restaurants is not cheap in the Toronto area. Usually one dish is at least 20 to 30 CAD per dish. If you go to Cantonese/Chinese restaurants you get lower prices with likely bigger portions.

Divino Pizzeria does have another location in the downtown Toronto area. If you are there, consider a visit.

Thank you for reading.

The Pizzeria looks elegant 😍 especially the salmon and risotto. My mouth is drooling to the strawberry shortcake gelato 😍

Thank you. The gelatos were really good.
