En esta Navidad me pasa algo interesante y tal vez a Uds también, y es que quiero decorar, pero no quiero hacer exactamente lo mismo que el año pasado. Mi inquietud esta Navidad no es comprar más, sino darle una vuelta de tuerca a esos adornos que ya tengo guardados. Reutilizar con una intención diferente, y es que el espíritu creativo no necesita un gran presupuesto, solo un poco de ingenio.
Me detuve a pensar en las puertas de mi casa, no solo en la puerta principal, sino también en las puertas de las habitaciones de mis hijos y la mía. Me pareció un bonito detalle, un gesto acogedor y cariñoso.
Comencé con la idea de un pequeño cuadro temático, luego consideré una corona tradicional, pero luego decidí combinar esos conceptos para crear algo que se sienta fresco y hecho con calma. Les invito a ver el resultado de este intento. Si están buscando inspiración para decorar con lo que ya tienen, sin estrés y dándole un aire renovado a su hogar, creo que esto les va a gustar... This Christmas, something interesting is happening to me, and perhaps to you too: I want to decorate, but I don't want to do exactly the same thing as last year. My concern this Christmas is not to buy more, but to give a new twist to the decorations I already have stored away. Reuse them with a different intention, because creativity doesn't need a big budget, just a little ingenuity.
I stopped to think about the doors in my house, not just the front door, but also the doors to each of my children's rooms and my own. It seemed like a nice gesture, a welcoming and loving touch.
I started with the idea of a small themed picture, then considered a traditional wreath, but then decided to combine those concepts to create something that feels fresh and calm. I invite you to see the result of this attempt. Marqué y corté un círculo en el cartón, utilicé de referencia un plato grande. También marqué y corté dos círculos en cartulina roja y azul, el rojo del mismo tamaño del cartón, pero el azul es un poco más pequeño y tomé de referencia un plato más pequeño.
Corté unas tiras en cartulina roja, a las que les marqué una linea a largo y luego hice muchos cortes, estos son absolutamente necesarios para forrar en curva, que será el siguiente paso.
I marked and cut a circle in the cardboard, using a large plate as a reference. I also marked and cut two circles in red and blue cardstock, the red one the same size as the cardboard, but the blue one a little smaller, using a smaller plate as a reference.
I cut some strips out of red cardstock, marked a line along their length, and then made many cuts. These are absolutely necessary for covering the curve, which will be the next step.

Las tiras las doblé por la línea que había marcado y entonces los cortes los pegué por todo el borde del círculo de cartón. Gracias a esos cortes la tira de cartulina se puede pegar muy bien en la forma circular y dará un buen acabado.
Fíjense cómo luce lo que será la parte posterior, que aunque no será lo que se ve cuando lo esté utilizando, personalmente me gusta mucho que todo se pueda ver bien desde cualquier ángulo.
I folded the strips along the line I had marked and then glued the cuts around the edge of the cardboard circle. Thanks to these cuts, the strip of cardstock can be glued very well to the circular shape and will give a nice finish.
Take a look at what the back will look like. Although it won't be visible when you're using it, I personally really like that everything can be seen clearly from any angle.

Una vez seco, extiendo bien pega blanca por el frente del cartón, y pego el círculo de cartulina roja que es del mismo tamaño que el círculo de cartón. Lo pego y le ejerzo presión uniforme por el revés, y luego lo reservo para que se seque muy bien.
Once dry, I spread white glue evenly over the front of the cardboard and stick on the red card circle, which is the same size as the cardboard circle. I stick it on and press down evenly on the back, then set it aside to dry thoroughly.

Mientras espero que seque la base, decoro el círculo azul. Hice dos casitas en cartulina beige y en cartón. Decoré con otras cartulinas y algo de foami escarcha para lo que sería el techo nevado de esas casitas. También pegué unos cortes pequeños e irregulares y los pegué para simular nieve. Luego, pegué este diseño en la base roja.
Con la cinta de Navidad hice un lazo doble, muy sencillo pero que resaltará bastante dado el diseño rojo y dorado de ésta.
While I wait for the base to dry, I decorate the blue circle. I made two little houses out of beige cardstock and cardboard. I decorated them with other pieces of cardstock and some frosty foam for what would be the snowy roofs of those little houses. I also cut out some small, irregular shapes and glued them on to simulate snow. Then, I glued this design onto the red base.
With the Christmas ribbon, I made a double bow, very simple but one that will stand out quite a bit given the red and gold design of the ribbon.

Utilicé una boa dorada (yo la llamo así, realmente no se cómo se llama) para darle más brillo a todo el borde, la pegué con silicón caliente en algunos puntos.
Para colgar, coloqué un cordón blanco por el revés de este cuadro-corona de navidad.
I used a gold boa (that's what I call it, I don't really know what it's called) to add sparkle to the entire edge, attaching it with hot glue in a few places.
To hang it, I attached a white cord to the back of this Christmas wreath frame.

Dos detalles adicionales fueron una tira con campanitas doradas y un muñeco de tela , los cuales pegué con silicón caliente muy bien, y estos elementos no aportaron peso, son demasiado livianos.
Two additional details were a strip with golden bells and a cloth doll, which I glued on very well with hot silicone, and these elements did not add any weight, as they are very light.

Para finalizar, un detalle para darle el Plus final, fue una extensión de luces, éstas son de baterías y no sé cuanto vayan a durar, pero son las ideales para éste proyecto.
Finally, one detail that gave it the final touch was an extension of lights. These are battery-powered, and I don't know how long they will last, but they are ideal for this project.
