Christmas is here and like I told you my friends earlier, it's the season where we get busy with different sewing activities. So it happens that my niece will be having a Christmas carol party this coming week and they are not just going to sing but they will be acting the little baby Jesus drama.
I'm so happy that my niece is very active in school and even belongs to their drama group. She has been a really quiet person at home that I fear so much regarding her education. Students who are quiet in school sometimes find it very difficult to do well academically but I'm happy that she is different..
Been in the drama group she will be acting as the mother of Jesus in the children play. But since the display will be among traditional people both parents they decided to wear traditional wears. They had purchased this African print fabric for her to sew some traditional dress that will depict her mother status.
Been her big Aunty I decided to sew something a little modern for her with the fabric.
I got the fabric and cut it into her measurements for he front and back piece together with the linings
Then the cutting of the linings, front and back piece was next
Next was the stitching of the outfit which I began to sew from turning the necklines to the other seam allowances.
Next I got another pieces of fabrics and used it to cut the sleeves which I made into a gathers and attached it to the outfit here
It was time to fix the zipper which I was able to do very easily. Each time I fix zippers now I always smile when I remember my early fashion days where zipper fixing always caused me headaches
I almost forgot to add some dart to the outfit but even after I have concluded with sewing the dress I was still able to draw the dart linea and add some darts to the clothes.
You may be wondering why big Aunty is wearing her nieces clothes, we are actually of thesame body size and the baby girl has grown to meet up with me in size.
Well I decided to model it for her before she wears it for her drama day. I will still need to sew some hair accessories for her of thesame fabrics before she can pick it later today.
Until then I hope that the outfit will fit her very well and she will carry out her drama presentation in school properly
