I absolutely feel your pain, and sense of achievement. I dug one out many years ago, dig round, chop some roots, try to pull, repeat. After two solid days, I was about to give up, couldn't see any more roots that were holding it in other than the tap root so threw a chain around and pulled it out with the car!

The space it saved was great, but that feeling of victory as I danced around the garden, priceless!
