What is the worst imaginable natural disaster you can think of?
Let me know your estimate and the impact this event would have.

Sort:

Realistically I guess a 9+ earthquake in northern America followed by a massive tsunami.

Unrealistically, maybe some crazy gamma ray burst hits earth directly from an unexpected supernova nearby or a giant asteroid we can't deflect in time.

Good guesses already, but there is way more 😀. I am waiting for some other comments still (the level of interaction here on the Snaps has deteriorated a little, sadly).

I'll just sit here and wait for yellowstone to explode. 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿

What is spooky is that a small inconsequential event can lead to a domino effect and civilizational collapse. I'm personally concerned about asteroids, but the Covid years showed me that it doesn't take much for everyone to chimp out. 😄

True, but you need to think at a much larger scale to find the worst disaster!

Overflowing oceans that "eat out" much if not all of the available land.
For some unknown reason, the Earth is on a collision course with a new planet that has entered the solar system.
Maybe also, all insects going berserk and attacking the human population incessantly.

A meteor decimating an entire city seems pretty scary to me. Just knowing it's coming would send the world into a panic.
