Is it pine trees? Looks very similar to how a swedish forest can look like :)
Yes it is. The east slopes of the Cascade Mountain Range is mostly pines until you get near the top and the west side where firs are more dominant. The orange bark ones are Ponderosa pines. A little different species.
This stone certainly has a story to tell.
It's even strange that it's in the middle of the forest.
Probably ejected from a dormant volcano about 10 miles away during an ancient eruption.
I could think that it was a battle and they ejected this rock, but the volcano is more plausible. I didn't know there was a volcano near this photo.
Actually there is three. The boulder is in the forest to the right of this photo.
3 and they are still close. From the photo it is good to see that they are "sleeping" well and that they continue to do so.
I can still see some houses around there. I don't know if I would have the courage to be close to them. I think I am too scared for these things. LOL
I only live a couple miles to the right of this picture. I've lived within eyesight of a cascade peak most of my life. Was even within 30 miles of Mt St Helens when it blew in 1980. :)
I can't even imagine what it would have been like to see this from the inside out, even if it was just a few miles away.
The Three Sisters are about 10 miles away (dormant volcanoes). There are lots of rock formations in these forests that are more lava related. This one is kind of out of place and was probably hurled here in an ancient eruption. Just my guess though. :)
An eruption would do it. I was also thinking Paul Bunyan might've been landscaping around the area.
I just hope someone doesn't get into a fight and hit his head against it. Nice shot.
