Under the golden shade of another large live oak tree ...

Very nice, it reminded me of one of the reserves in The Hunter: Call of the Wild.

Essentially, that is what the Oak Woodlands are ... they built the park between the reserved old forests. You're picking it up exactly right!

Very cool, it seems to be a very beautiful place, you can live many adventures there haha. Are there any dangerous animals around? Like jaguars, lions or anything like that?

Two centuries ago, there were mountain lions and perhaps even the occasional grizzly bear. Occasionally, a coyote, following ancient trails still not overrun by traffic to the south, might still roam there. But other than that, it is a park reserve of great peace.

I understood it better, that's great, thanks for explaining, I learned a few things from you today haha.

No. This is now the northeasternmost edge of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park -- in fact, one might say preserving these trees is where the park begins. The other three corners where these trees once stood are all developed ... most do not know they are steps from such wonder.

I would take a nap there

It is steeper than it looks on all sides ... but if you got right between the two trunks and wedged yourself in well, you would be safe!

Ok, I didn't see that in the pic.

That's the south flank of San Francisco's Lone Mountain, actually ... I climbed a bit up off the path to photograph those trees, and was as high on that pitch as I could safely go!

Ok, is it safe to walk there. I mean no bears around?

Yep ... it's literally in the middle of San Francisco, CA, a big city ... the last of the bears left here long ago. Coyotes, though, can be a thing, still -- I still meet them running around some of the hills!

Ok, well, enjoy safety. Keep posting those beautiful pics.

Thank you ... I will ... I love sharing the simple joys of my life, in a time in which there is so much unhappiness... I do the little that I can for myself, and also others!

Best feeling is when it's hot, but the tree shadow are cold.

Yep ... that was a day of just a little warmth, so there was not much difference in the sun or shade, but if that were level ground, just to rest there on any sunny day would be a glory!

Exactly!

I like the way oaks grow all gnarled. This looks like a Hollywood set.

@shiftrox mentioned to me it looks like a nature reserve from Call of Duty ... and you are both right in that this is the type of place you would film something like that in (and it does happen) because this is one of the last oak stands of its kind. That whole tree is THIS...

Wow. It's very photogenic. I wonder how old it is. It looks like it's been around for awhile. Beautiful!

It survived -- being one of the few -- the 1906 Great Earthquake when many of its mates were cut down for survival needs, and is older than Golden Gate Park, which is 150 years old ... the park was built between the old oak stands to the north and south...

🤯 That's stunning

And hidden in plain sight. I discovered this place ONLY LAST YEAR, and literally thousands of people drive by a quarter-mile away EVERY DAY and never even know it is there!

(On the other hand, it's probably good that it is somewhat hidden -- that tree survived BECAUSE ...)

Yes, maybe it's a good idea to keep such places under cover. They've had problems on trails here when too many people show up for the clicks.

I don't post the Oak Woodlands on Web 2 for that reason!

I meant the hunter: call of the wild, it's a simulation game in which you're a hunter and you have various reserves: savanna, silver ridge peaks, yukon valley, fernando park, medved-taiga and others. It's a sensational game, one of my favorites. 😍

Thanks for the clarification! The Yukon Valley is just a few thousand miles up the West Coast from me in Alaska, and the silver ridges of the Sierra Nevada just a few hundred miles to my east, so you are still feeling the general locale!

Now, this is a reserve in the middle of a city ... nothing left to hunt here for a century and a half in the Oak Woodlands except maybe the occasional coyotes ... but there is some filming done here ... maybe "Ancient Live Oak Forest" is coming soon to COFW!

Anything is possible haha, but it would be cool to see a place like this in a game, it could be really interesting and fun haha.

It looks like a set from a medieval adventure movie.

And, that big tree is probably at least half that old ... that is one of the last ANCIENT live oak stands in California, predating the Spanish conquest ... look at those bigger trunks there around... probably this tree's parent!

Wow! This place must be really nice!

It is ... a hidden gem of San Francisco ... I don't post it on Web 2, because folks are CRAZY...

Some things are better left away from web 2.0, haha!

looks great. Have a nice day.

You too ... may your day have beauties for you as this one pictured here did for me!
