Hello Hiveans, how are you all doing, I trust maladies are doing good.

When I saw the prompt for the week, I knew I just had to take out time from my schedule to write about this.

Tell us about one thing you learned from your mother or sister or a female neighbor that she didn't teach you directly.

Well, I'll be talking about what I learned from my aunt instead of my mum or sister. So as I've said in my previous posts before, my mom wasn't with us for a long while, so most of what I know I learned from my aunts around. My aunts were very instrumental to my and my sibling's welfare while growing up.

One thing I learned from my aunt without her teaching me directly is giving, especially giving of food to visitors and even strangers.
You can't go to my aunt's house and leave without having something to eat, it was forbidden, if she isn't around, you must look for something to rustle up and give to that visitor, she dare not hear that the person left her house without having something to eat, she would get really mad at you. Even if a handyman came to repair something within her home, she must give the person something to eat, it might not be cooked food, but even if it's a snack she would find it around the house and give the person.

I remember one day when I and my siblings went to her house for holidays, so one the tap in the house, my aunt was not home that very day, but do know that when my aunt called to tell us about the plumber that was coming to fix the tap, she had to tell us to find a something for the plumber to eat after fixing the tap.

The funny thing was that there wasn't really anything to eat at home, but I had to find something, luckily there were some snacks available, so I gave him some to eat.

So yeah, one of the things I learned from my aunt is he gave, and due to this, she never lacked, especially food. While I saw this attribute of my aunt, I found myself just practicing the exact same thing, you can't come to my house and go back without even drinking water.

So you see, most things we learn, we weren't directly taught, like taking a book and teaching it before it became part of us, some just came by observing and watching, and gradually before you know it, unconsciously you just find yourself doing them. There's this story one of my uncles usually told, that growing up he always wore a singlet underneath his clothes, but when he got to the university, his roommate never wore a singlet for a day.

My uncle said he noticed that after something he also began to dress up without a singlet, just by being in the same space as the roommate.

This is my response to the #ladiesofhive prompt. Kindly also share that one thing you got to learn indirectly from any of your female folks around you.

Giving is very important, it gives joy to both the giver and the receiver. It's good your learnt this valuable lesson from your aunt. Keep up the good work!

I also learnt this act from my aunt too. She will always entertain whosoever comes to visit her. I learnt this from her and would always give even to children. Just two days ago, some kids around the area came to embrace me while returning from work, I dipped my hand in my bag and gave them some cash. This act has been a part of me and I never lack. #dreemport

Giving, especially to strangers is a great habit. I'm glad you learnt such from your aunt.
