Are you a ramen lover? A soupy noodle dish with rich and flavourful broth. Yes. Perfect for the cold winter days.
It’s been wet and cold recently so naturally we found ourselves visiting an old favourite, Yasaka Ramen. This restaurant is located in Sydney CBD which is only 5 minute walk from Museum Station.
The restaurant has two floors. Downstairs has the bar table which overlooks the kitchen whilst upstairs has table seating.
This Japanese ramen restaurant serves a variety of ramen, rice bowls, curry, udon and variety of side dishes. This makes it a great place to have a meal as there’s a decent selection to choose from.
We ordered the spare rib ramen, the yasaka special set meal (comes with choice of side dish and a soft drink) and a wagyu udon.
For both ramen, we chose a shoyu (soy sauce) based broth. The broth was rich, creamy and thick. Extra warm and packed with flavours, it was a really filling and satisfying meal. The noodles were firm and chewy.
The wagyu beef from the udon was very tender and serving was generous. The soup base is light and savoury.
Near the entry of the restaurant, there is a small enclosed area in which you can find a staff making the noodles. The handmade noodles is also something which makes this restaurant different from many other ramen joints.
Having an open kitchen and also view of the ramen making is pretty entertaining and makes it a little interesting for both adult and kids.
The verdict?
The price of meals here are a little higher than usual however the atmosphere, quality and taste of the food outweighs it all.
The service at the restaurant was quick and staff were friendly and welcoming. We really love their restaurant slogan of “No Ramen No Life”. They all wore a uniform with this big slogan on the back. If only they sold this as merch… Tanko would be one of the first in line to purchase one!
