Hi Everyone,
I was craving for motsu nabe (special hotpot with beef and pork offals), hubby found a place called 通天閣もつ鍋屋 near our house. Located just a short stroll from Namba and Nihonbash on the 2nd & 3rd floor, this place can be suited for all sorts of groups. The signature 元祖もつ鍋 (Original Motsu-Nabe) is comfort in a pot with tender beef offal simmered in a soy-based broth with cabbage, garlic, tofu, and a bit of chilli.
We also ordered a raw beef tataki with a variety of cooked dishes in case the kids wanted to pick on it while waiting for the nabe to cook through. The staff will come over and start looking the nabe for us and towards the end of it, we can finish off with a choice of Udon, Zōsui (rice porridge) or Cheese risotto. We chose the Zōsui (rice porridge) as it was what everyone liked especially with the left over broth, the rice was devine.
The staff here are warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We tried to order everything with Japanese and they were very surprised we managed without any issues. The food was very affordable and well priced for both food and drinks. If you want to experience Osaka comfort food, definitely don’t by to this restaurant tucked inside a side street.
