Hey Hive!
We're back with more restaurantours, where I showcase different restaurants we've been to, mainly in Singapore. This was last September when we went out for a simple dinner for my birthday eve! I didn't really have any cravings that day so we just went to our neighbourhood mall to see what new restaurant we could try and we came across this Taiwanese one called Eat 3 Bowls.

I'm not really sure why they're called Eat 3 Bowls but one of their signatures is these 3 bowls of different dishes! The bowls are filled with Taiwan's famous dishes Braised Pork Rice, Oyster & Pig Intestine Noodles and Shredded Chicken Rice. It's just a Tasting Portion for 1 person so they're small bowls but honestly I think that would be enough for me.

Of course they also have the bigger versions of those 3 bowls which are cheaper and also come with a side dish and drink if you get the set.

Without the set the bowls are even cheaper of course.

They also have some meat options like the Braised Pork Chop with Rice.

They also had some soups and side dishes.

Since this was our first time, I thought we should try the triple bowl signature. The rest of the menu is basically the same just bigger versions of those bowls anyway. I think I wanted something warm at the time since it was the rainy season so I ordered the Ginseng Chicken soup with rice.

The restaurant itself is pretty small but open since it's in the middle of the basement floor of the mall.

There were only a few tables but thankfully we managed to get a seat. After we chose our dishes we headed to the counter to place our order.

Shortly after ordering, our food was ready for collection!

This was the 3 Bowls Series, and I was pleasantly surprised by how accurate it looked to the photo in the menu.

I tried each of the bowls separately to see which one I liked the best, starting with the Taiwanese favourite - Braised Pork Rice.

The pork was really tender and the rice mixed with the flavourful gravy was very delicious! It might've been a bit on the saltier side but I really enjoyed it. I think some extra rice would've made for a better ratio but it still tasted really good.
Next I tried the Mee Sua, which is a very thin, delicate, and salty wheat flour vermicelli originally from Fujian, China. Taiwan is also well known for Mee Sua with oysters. I'm not really a fan of shellfish but I was willing to try it.

The noodles were nice and smooth and the oyster wasn't as chewy as I thought it was going to be. It was actually not too bad. The broth of the mee sua was savoury so I think all the seafood flavour went into the broth.

The mee sua also came with pig intestines which I wouldn't normally eat but I tried a piece anyway. It honestly had the texture of beancurd skin, and didn't really have a distinct taste since everything tasted like the broth.
Lastly this was the Shredded Chicken Rice. Honestly this was pretty plain compared to the other 2 bowls. It was probably the most mid one of them all, not that it's bad but just compared to the others it wasn't as savoury, but it did provide a nice balance overall.

Of the 3 bowls I think we both agreed that the Braised Pork Rice was the best. Even though it was on the saltier side we really enjoyed the gravy mixed with the rice and the pork itself. The Mee Sua was a close second though, but I think the seafood flavour was a bit strong for us.

This was the Ginseng Chicken Soup with a side dish of Braised Cabbage and a bowl of rice.

The soup was indeed very nourishing like it said on the menu. It was considerably lighter than the mee sua broth, and had a lot of red dates, beancurd skins, gourds and a chicken drumstick as well. It was seasoned well and was honestly very hearty and satisfying.

The braised cabbage was also good but I think it might've been cold side dish so I'm glad I had the soup to warm me up. Overall it was a very delicious soup and felt like a good healthy meal.

Overall we had a very satisfying meal although I think Sean would've liked another bowl of rice. It was enough for me though since I ended up finishing the big bowl of soup. I was full of warm soup after that and my belly was very happy.
If you want a Taiwanese meal on a budget, I'd say Eat 3 Bowls is pretty decent, and their Braised Pork Rice is good. They have quite a few outlets now so it's easier to find than other Taiwanese places here.
