Semolina (Rava) Upma
Upma is a main dish in South Indian homes and restaurants. It is a perfect dish for breakfast which improves the digestive system of our body and also keeps the digestion system healthy. After eating it, we do not feel hungry. It contains fiber.
Upma can be made by mixing many vegetables of your choice. Many people also eat it with pickle and coconut chutney, but it tastes very tasty just like this.
Ingredients: -
- Semolina (Rava) - 1 cup
- White urad dal - 1 tsp
- Bengal gram dal - 1 tsp
- Cashews - 10-15
- Peanuts - 1/4 cup
- Green chilli, ginger paste
- Onion - finely chopped
- Peas - 1/2 cup
- Carrot - 1/2 cup
- Capsicum - 1/2 cup
- Curry leaves- 5-6
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - 1 table spoon
- Ghee - 1 table spoon
- Butter - 1 table spoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice
- Coriander leaves
- Water - 3 cups
Method :-
First of all, roast semolina by adding 1 spoon oil in a pan
Stir for 10 minutes We will cook it
Then we will take it out in a plate
Now put 1 spoon of ghee in the pan and add cashew nuts
and peanuts
Deep fry it and take it out
Now add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chana dal, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves in the remaining ghee and let them crackle
Then add green chilli and ginger paste and fry it
Then add all the vegetables (onion, peas, carrot, capsicum)
Mix it well
After cooking it for a while, add 3 cups of water and let it boil
Add salt as well
When it boils, add roasted semolina to it
Mix it well and keep stirring
When this mixture becomes like halwa, then mix fried cashews and peanuts in it.
Then at last turn off the gas and add lemon juice
Shake and garnish with coriander leaves
Eat and serve it hot
