Hello, Chefs!π
Today, Hot dogs are on the menu, as you know, a processed meat, and probably something else, and also a street food in our country. It gives way to bureks and pizzas, but it persists and is cheaper...
The easiest way is to boil them in hot water for a few minutes, but I took it a step further. π π§π₯
I intended to make something that could be eaten for a few days, either as a main course or a side dish for lunch, and the next day, the kids could take it with them to school for a snack.
But I was naive, what a snack the second day, one kilogram of hot dogs quickly ran out, already at dinner they were arguing about how many each would have :)
This recipe is a variation, a combination of several recipes I've seen, and it's a very filling dish - a protein bomb. It would probably belong more in a #foodporn category or something like that, because there's too much of everything. π
Such a dish is also suitable if you have a party or bring it to a party :) π₯³π
The quantities in this recipe are for at least eight servings or more:
- 1 kilogram of hot dogs (11 chicken hot dogs in a package, without casing, they can be made from other meat as well)
- 20 dekagrams of Mozzarella cheese, grated
- 10 dekagrams of Emmental cheese, sliced
- 15 dekagrams of bacon, sliced
- half a kilo of dry or stale bread
- two eggs
- 2 deciliters of cooking cream
- deciliter of olive oil
- salt and pepper to taste
It may not look very easy, but it's pretty easy and rustic. You just cut everything up, wrap it up, and put it in a baking dish :)
First, I sliced ββup some old bread and put it in a glass baking dish, and brushed it with olive oil.
Then I stuffed the hot dogs with Emmental, it can be any cheese, now I remembered that I could put some with mold :) π΅βπ«
First, I cut them in half, but not all the way through, and filled the slit with cheese.
Then I wrapped them in bacon and placed them in a baking dish, and put them in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes to warm the Hot dogs, and melt the cheese and bacon.
Once the hot dogs were in the oven, I mixed two eggs with cooking cream and salt and pepper, if desired.
I took the baking sheet out of the oven. The cheese was nicely melted, and the bacon was browned. It could have been longer, but I'm okay with it. They're going back in the oven anyway.
Then I poured the liquid egg and cream mixture over the hot dogs and sprinkled them with grated mozzarella.
Return to the oven for about 15-20 minutes to allow the top layer of cheese to brown.
The dish is ready!
Now let's serve it.
It can also be eaten cold, or cut into rings as a snack. I might try something similar next time.
Thank you for your attention!
