Hello foodies, how are you, I hope you are always healthy and happy for all of us. This time I came with a simple food recipe but made it a bit complicated, because this food is served with three different types of dishes.
In my area we call it kue jala.
This kue jala is served with chicken curry or goat curry and pickled cucumber. Usually I make this kue jala when there is an event at my house. But this time I made it for my family. Why is it called a kue jala , maybe because the shape is made like a fishing net, well, in my area, fish nets are called jala, that's why it's called kue jala .
OK, I'll start by making the kue jala first
Material
- 250 gr wheat flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- A pinch of salt
- Enough water
Sorry, I forgot to take a photo of the margarine
How to make
- Mix all the ingredients and add water then shake until the flour is smooth and there are no lumps. I usually use 2 glasses of water for 250 grams of flour.
- Cook using a special kue jala mold on a small frying pan greased with oil so it doesn't stick when lifted. The way to print it is by rotating the mold here and there so that the shape widens.
- Lift and fold the mesh cake into a rectangular shape or according to taste
- Make until the dough is finished and set aside
Ingredients and method for making cucumber pickles

Ingredients and method for making chicken curry
Material
250 gr chicken meat
250 gr grated coconut
For the curry seasoning this time, I bought the ready-made one, more or less filled with chilies, shallots, garlic, candlenuts, coriander, cumin and turmeric. And given curry leaves, kaffir lime leaves.
How to make
- For the chicken, I boiled it briefly in hot water with bay leaves to reduce the fishy smell of the chicken
- Put the grated coconut in a blender, add enough water then squeeze and take the coconut milk.
- Saute the curry spices in a little oil, once the spices are cooked and fragrant, add the chicken meat. Stir until the spices are evenly distributed and absorbed into the chicken meat. Once the chicken is completely cooked, add the coconut milk. Don't forget to add salt and adjust the taste. Remove from heat when the coconut milk has boiled and the curry is ready to be served.
After the cooking is finished, it is now ready for us to serve. To serve the kue jala, we arrange the kue jala on a plate then pour the chicken curry over the kue jala and top with pickled cucumber.
It tastes delicious, delicious and filling. So it can be used as a substitute for rice. Because it is complete with carbohydrates, protein and vitamins.
OK friends, this is my recipe for today. Hopefully this is useful and adds to our recipe collection. Regards.
