
Rice is a staple dish that must be available in my home, but this time a special rice dish became the main menu in my home. This rice has intrigued me for a long time, and it just so happens that there are now many types of rice like this being sold in the marketplace. I was very curious and tried buying it yesterday in a package.
Biryani Rice

Biryani is a fairly popular rice dish, made from basmati rice and cooked with distinctive spices. This rice is usually combined with vegetables or meat. As far as I know from the internet, biryani originated from the Indian island, and besides biryani, they also call it beriyani. However, in Indonesia, we call it biryani rice.
The biryani rice I bought online a while back came in an instant package. The price was quite affordable at IDR 25,000 for a 220-gram package. The portion size is perfect for two to three people. The package already includes all the necessary spices.


In the cooking instructions, there are ingredients that must be added when cooking, including shallots and garlic. To make it even more delicious, it is also recommended to add meat and coconut milk or milk. You can adjust the amount of coconut milk and meat according to your preference. I myself add onions, chilies, and salt for flavor, as well as chicken meat that I have at home. As for the coconut milk or milk, I skip it and just add water.

Ingredients

1 onion
500 grams of chicken meat
Water as needed.
1 teaspoon of gram
2 cloves of shallots
2 cloves of garlic
1 star anise
2 cardamom pods
2 cloves
Chili as needed (optional)
Preparation Procedure
Wash the rice thoroughly, then chop the onions into small pieces or according to your preference. Ignore the swelling in your eyes from chopping onions.




Then sauté the onions until they are wilted and slightly golden, then add the cardamom, star anise, and cloves.


Add the chicken pieces that have been marinated with salt and lime juice.


Add the instant seasoning and stir until evenly mixed. Add enough water, then add the cooked chili peppers until slightly reduced.




Then add the cooked broth to the rice cooker along with the washed rice. Cook until done, about 20 minutes, and the rice will be perfectly cooked.




Results

The aroma is very fragrant and the texture of the rice is just right for my taste buds. I think the packaging of this rice has been tailored to the tastes of Indonesians. The seasoning is just like the savory, spicy rice we enjoy in our region. However, this is cooked together with chicken, so there is a slightly different flavor from the chicken.

Serve it on a large plate, arrange the chicken on top, and enjoy it with as much chili sauce as you like. For my taste, I add onion chili sauce when enjoying it. The taste is truly extraordinary—it's incredibly delicious, with the rice cooked evenly and perfectly fluffy. What surprised me is that the rice tastes just like the rice typically found in my region. It's the aromatic spices that make this dish even more tempting.
