Bean Sprouts with Medan Anchovies

Crispy bean sprouts with Medan anchovies is a combination of bean sprouts that are briefly boiled with fried onions and fried anchovies. This unique combination is mixed with salt and a little umami flavor, making it very delicious. This dish is simple, but trust me, it tastes like a delicious salad.

Ingredients Needed

50 grams of bean sprouts
50 grams of Medan anchovies
2 cloves of shallots
1 stalk of celery
¼ teaspoon of salt
¼ teaspoon of herbal broth
1 tablespoon of cornstarch




Procedure for Making


I prepare the Medan anchovies by washing them thoroughly, then while they are still slightly wet, mix them with cornstarch.

After frying them until golden brown, set them aside and then fry the onions.

I boil the bean sprouts in boiling water for a short time, making sure the water is boiling properly.

Mix the bean sprouts and scallions, then season with salt and mushroom broth and stir until evenly mixed. Serve by adding a sprinkling of the fried anchovies and onions from earlier.

Ta-da!!! The result looks beautiful on the plate. I love the color combination, especially when everything is mixed together. And the most interesting part is the combination of crispy and savory flavors all in one.

This combination is extraordinary, with the umami flavor from the mushroom broth and a hint of saltiness from the Medan anchovies making this dish perfect. The crispy bean sprouts, which are deliberately boiled until half-cooked, blend perfectly. In my opinion, this is the right combination to serve. The natural combination of simple ingredients makes this dish very delicious.
