Wanna Eat Smoke? Trying the Famous Smoking Candy Balls!

Last night, something unexpected made my ordinary day a little extra fun.

I was on my way home from work, of course again tired, hungry, and honestly just looking forward to lying down. But as my brother and I passed by, we noticed a small crowd gathered around this one stall.

Oh my gosh, it's the famous smoking balls! I’ve seen them all over social media and kept telling myself I’d try them someday. And well, that “someday” turned out to be last night.

We stopped out of curiosity at first, just watching people react. The way the smoke came out of their mouths and noses while eating was just too funny not to notice. Some kids were pretending to be dragons.

Even adults were laughing like kids again. It looked silly, but in a good way.
I hesitated for a moment, then looked at my brother and said, “Let’s just try it!”

We had four options: Blueberry, strawberry, caramel, and chocolate. I went for chocolate, my brother chose strawberry.

Each serving cost $2, and there were about 10 candy balls in one container. Not bad, considering you also get entertainment with your snack!
Now, here’s where it got exciting.

The vendor scooped the round candy balls into a metal bowl, added what seemed to be liquid nitrogen, and gave it a quick mix. A huge cloud of smoke came out of the bowl—it looked like a science lab experiment. He handed it to us and said to eat it quickly while it’s still “smoking.”

I picked up one ball, a little nervous but curious. It looked like a small toasted bun—crispy on the outside. The moment I bit into it, cold air shot out of my nose and mouth. I immediately started laughing.

Taste-wise? I was actually surprised. The chocolate flavor wasn’t too sweet or fake-tasting—it was just right. The texture reminded me of a light biscuit or puffed bread, cold and crunchy. My sister said hers tasted like strawberry milk and loved it just as much. We kept popping one after another until we reached the last ball.

I have to say, it wasn’t just about the flavor. It was the whole experience that made it so memorable—the smoke, the surprise, and the fact that I got to share it with my brother. We both agreed it was worth it.

I think that’s what makes food like this special. Sometimes it’s not about being fancy. Sometimes, it’s just about being fun and making you feel like a kid again.

So if you ever come across a smoking balls stall, don’t overthink it. Try it. Have fun. Let yourself laugh with smoke coming out of your mouth—it’s not glamorous, but trust me, it’s a moment you’ll remember.

Nice experience! Apart from 'smoking' it seems the balls also tasted rather well, right?
