"Tasting new flavors with the family." As we all know, we are in the best season of the year: the holiday season. This season brings back beautiful memories shared in my beloved town, surrounded by my family. Sadly, it has been many years since I was able to visit them, due to the difficult economic situation we face in Venezuela.

This weekend, I was talking to my husband about my nephew not having shoes for his debut on December 24. As is customary, we dress up on December 24 and 31. While we were talking, my husband suggested that I call my sister so they could come early and we could go to the mall to buy him some shoes for this exciting day.

We left around 11:30 in the morning, the whole family together. When we arrived, we went into a new store that was just opening, called Tío Ami. It was quite crowded, so we just went in to see what they had on display. I liked the home goods; that's my favorite section to browse, ha ha ha. We left there and began our adventure of buying shoes. My friends, this was like going out with my husband and son: hard to find. Despite the journey, it was worth it, because we found the ones he wanted.

After finishing shopping for my nephew's shoes, we were all starving. My husband invited us to the food court located in this shopping center called Hiper Galerías. I should mention that my husband, ever since I've known him for almost 30 years, has always been obsessed with eating roast chicken, but the kind that is cooked in machines with high heat and turned around a lot. He had been talking for a while about wanting to try the chicken at a restaurant in this food court that only takes orders for chicken.

This time, I told him that I also wanted to try this new flavor and see what a new place was like. The restaurant is called Roast Chicken. When we arrived, we got in line, as there were quite a few people waiting to place their orders. While we waited for our turn, we looked at the combos they offered. We decided on a combo of 10 rolls, 10 fried arepas, 1 shredded salad, a serving of French fries, 1 liter of soda, and a roast chicken, all for $19.90. Because there were so many of us, we ordered two of these combos.

We waited around 30 minutes, as there were many orders ahead of us. While we waited, my daughter looked at Okoru's restaurant, which specializes in Asian food; she is a loyal sushi lover. As she looked, she noticed that they had a seasonal offer of 10 sushi rolls for only $5. She didn't wait long and sent her brother to order a plate of these 10 rolls. My friends called my husband because our chicken order was ready. Seeing all this beauty, we wanted to dig in right away, but we couldn't; first, we had to take photos to share this wonderful experience.

I have to say that this combo was great; the chicken was cooked to perfection, with no blood anywhere, unlike some places where they serve it that way, which really puts you off your food. The chicken was covered in a delicious guasacaca sauce, and the fries and salad were just how I like them. We all started tasting and enjoying the food; I really give this place 10 out of 10. Next, I'll try the Broaster chicken. After I finished enjoying my lunch, they called my son because his sushi order was ready.

They started eating while I took the plates to the chicken restaurant. When I tried the first roll, I felt like I was in heaven. They ordered chicken roll sushi, which is made with crispy chicken, avocado, and cream cheese. This restaurant is very well known in my city; they have several locations in the area. It had been a long time since I had eaten this delicious food. The outing with my friends was very comforting because, as a family, we shared moments that we can't experience all the time, and especially because my nephew was with us. "Degustando nuevos sabores junto a la familia". Como todos sabemos, estamos en la mejor temporada del año: la época decembrina. Esta temporada me trae hermosos recuerdos compartidos en mi querido pueblo, rodeada de mi familia. Tristemente, han pasado muchos años desde que pude visitarlos, debido a la difícil situación económica que enfrentamos en Venezuela.

Este fin de semana, estaba conversando con mi esposo sobre mi sobrino de que no tenía zapatos para su estreno del 24 de diciembre. Como es costumbre, lucimos vestuarios los días 24 y 31 de diciembre. Mientras conversábamos mi esposo me indicó que, llamara a mi hermana para que vinieran temprano y así pudiéramos ir al centro comercial a comprarle unos zapatos para este día tan emotivo.

Nos fuimos como a las once y media de la mañana, todos en familia. Al llegar, entramos a un nuevo local que estaban inaugurando, llamado Tío Ami. Este estaba bastante concurrido; solo entramos a ver qué tenían en exhibición. Me gustaron las cosas para el hogar, es mi área favorita a donde voy, ja, ja, ja. Salimos de allí e iniciamos nuestra aventura de comprar los zapatos. Amigos míos, esto fue como salir con mi esposo y mi hijo: duro de encontrar. A pesar del recorrido, valió la pena, ya que encontramos los que él quería.

Al terminar con la compra del calzado de mi sobrino, todos moríamos de hambre. Mi esposo nos invitó a la feria de comidas que está ubicada en este centro comercial llamado Hiper Galerías. Les cuento que mi esposo, desde que lo conozco hace casi 30 años, siempre ha tenido la obsesión de comer pollos asados, pero estos realizados en unas máquinas con mucho fuego y se cocinan dando muchas vueltas. Ya él tenía tiempo con el tema de que quería probar los pollos de un restaurante que está en esta feria, que solo saca pedidos de pollos.

En esta ocasión le dije que yo también tenía el deseo de degustar este nuevo sabor y la opinión de un nuevo lugar. Este restaurante se llama Roast Chicken. Al llegar, marcamos la cola, ya que había bastante gente esperando para hacer su pedido. Mientras esperábamos nuestro turno, observamos los combos que ofrecían. Nos decidimos por un combo de 10 bollitos, 10 arepitas fritas, 1 ensalada rallada, una ración de papas fritas, 1 litro de refresco y un pollo asado, todo esto por un monto de 19,9 $. Por la cantidad de personas, solicitamos 2 combos de este.

Esperamos alrededor de 30 minutos, ya que había muchos pedidos delante de nosotros. Mientras esperábamos, mi hija observó el restaurante de Okoru, especialista en comida asiática; ella es fiel amante del sushi. Mientras miraba, se dio cuenta de que tenían una oferta por la época de 10 rollos de sushi por tan solo 5 $. No esperó mucho y mandó a su hermano a solicitar un plato de estos 10 rollos. Mis amigos llamaron a mi esposo porque ya nuestro pedido de pollo estaba listo. Al ver toda esta belleza, ya queríamos meterle mano para comer, pero no se podía; primero, las fotos para compartir esta grata experiencia.

Les cuento que este combo estaba genial; el pollo tenía una excelente cocción, no tenía sangre por ningún lado, ya que hay lugares donde te lo sirven así, y realmente eso te quita el apetito. El pollo venía bañado en una guasacaca súper deliciosa, y las papas fritas y la ensalada estaban como me gustan. Aquí todos empezamos a degustar y a disfrutar; realmente le doy a este sitio 10 de 10. Luego voy por el pollo a la Broaster. Al terminar de disfrutar de mi almuerzo, llamaron a mi hijo porque su pedido de sushi estaba listo.

Ellos empezaron a comer mientras yo llevaba los platones al local de pollos. Cuando probé el primer rollo, sentí que estaba en el cielo. Se pidieron los sushi de chicken roll, el cual está elaborado con pollo crispy, aguacate y queso crema. Este local es muy reconocido en mi ciudad; tienen varias sedes en la zona. Tenía muchísimo tiempo sin comer esta deliciosa comida. La salida mis amigos fue muy reconfortante porque, como familia, compartimos momentos que no podemos vivir constantemente, y especialmente porque estaba mi sobrino junto a nosotros. Mis amores, si algún día visitan la ciudad de Cumaná, estado Sucre, les invito a visitar estos lugares geniales; no se van a arrepentir. Ahora me despido enviándoles muchas bendiciones y éxitos. 🙏🤗
