Hi, foodies in the Hive!
We're already in mid-January, and it feels like February is just around the corner. I hope you're all making the most of your time or 2024 will be gone in the blink of an eye 😵😁
I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to Panetteria Il Pomodoro, located 8 minutes drive from Las Garzas (Anzoategui State), where I work on the weekend (my second job). I thought we were going for coffee, but it was more than that.
When I arrived, I could see that the place wasn't that big as I had been told, so I never imagined that they had such a big and varied menu until I saw with my very eyes.
As soon as you enter, yo get the impression that it is a big space.
The areas are well distributed and beautifully organized and decorated. In the background, on the far left, you can see a multicolored wall made of wooden slats and rotating circular wooden planks. Behind it was our table.
We were next to the side wall which had colorful decorations which gave the place a fresh and festive atmosphere with its vertical garden of green moss, fern, and bougainvillea flowers. I have no idea about what percentage of that is natural, like natural, natural; I was shy to get closer and touch it 🙈
Bougainvillea seems to be emblematic to the place. Look at this cute flower arrangement; there was one on every table. I totally loved it:
I know next to nothing about motorcycles, but this looks like a very vintage style Vespa. I love light aquamarine and cyan and this color seems to be halfway between the two.
Besides, these were my mom's favorite flowers, and they remind me of happier times in my father's house when she was alive. These ones were fake, btw 🙃
The Menu
No coffee menu
I ordered a mocaccino. I was surprised to see that all the coffees were the same price. Also, none of them were listed on the menu. I didn't have high expectations for this coffee, but when I tasted it, oh! excellent. Creamy and with an intense cocoa aroma; no artificial scents--which I avoid at all costs precisely because I don't like their smell.
My mocaccino was just as I had expected.
And I loved the long spoon. I must get some for myself soon!

My sister ordered a capuccino.
And my brother in law, a latte. Both coffees were huge, and according to them, absolutely delicious.
We were happy with our coffees, and soon we felt like trying something more.

We ordered bruschette Pomodoro.
The bruschette pomodoro plate was a set of three: prosciuto, caprese, and bocconcini & focaccia. My favorite was the bocconcini & focaccia, which came with some delicious anchovies--I also noticed the olive oil was truffled.
We also had Parmesan spheres topped with dry tomato pesto.
Super delicious. I must learn to make this. I think potatoes instead of wheat flour will do.
They were fried and fluffy. Really crispy outside.
We were with friends. They ordered seafood soup, which was so creamy and beautifully presented that I almost went for one too!
Their second order was Ravioli D'Angello, which had lamb ragu, mint oil and straciatella.
It came with garlic buttered bread.
Their ravioli came literally swimming in a red wine reduction. The dish was a feast of colors and the aroma, oh! It smells deliciously.
We had a good time there though it was a little too noisy because, as I said before, the place look bigger than it really is. It was packed; then everybody is talking. You can get the picture.

There's more
They offer delicatessen, bread and pastries.
All in all, it was a lovely moment with delicious coffee and food. We left in the evening, a couple of hours later than planned. That happens when you're having a good time 😁
Finally, here's the check, so you can get an idea of how much you can spend if you ever come here. I think the prices are not cheap, but it's about the same as what I would pay in my city and here everything is fresh and in a nicer and safer environment and without reggaeton.
