Taking a slow drive to nowhere turned into an impromptu lunch date at The Jackie Horner Pub & Grill. I had no hesitation in saying yes when my friend Pat called to say she needed to get out; so did I!
Unplanned jaunts often are way more fun than carefully laid plans, don't you think?
First stopover was to meet her daughter at a bowling club - no, we weren't playing bowls! There was a friendly match on, so everyone was dressed casually. It was very sociable and jolly, everyone knew each other, but they made me feel welcome.
The aromas coming from the Lamb on a spit braai (spit BBQ) made us hungry; it was almost lunchtime. The lamb, however, was for a function. Their kitchen was closed for the day, so there was no food to be had at the bowling club this Sunday!
Pat had been to the quaint Jackie Horner Pub & Grill and suggested we go there for lunch. They had a small safe parking space behind remote-controlled gates.
The vibe was very laidback, regulars coming and going, but it was a slow Sunday, just what we wanted! We chose a table inside, and not on the deck, as the weather was starting to turn. It was sunny in the morning, but still a chill in the air.
Looking around, we saw that we'd missed Thursday Quiz Night and Saturday's Karaoke!

Sunday Roast lunch consisted of three meats - roast beef, pork, and chicken, with roast potatoes, roast vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, and loads of homemade gravy. It's served with Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce for dessert.
A good old-fashioned Sunday lunch meal of yonder days - real food! It was delicious, but way too big a helping. I'm not a big fan of pork, so I asked them to leave it out.

The Jackie Horner Pub & Grill not only offers specials every day of the week, but also reaches out to a local charity, so Monday nights are Charity Nights, whereby a percentage of their sales is donated:
Monday Blues offers a drink of choice with Executive Burgers or Pies.
Tuesday is Main Meals Madness with discounted prices on all mains.
Wednesday night is Seafood Fiesta, offering a discount on all seafood.
Thursday, when it's Quiz night, Steak dishes are discounted.
Flashback Fridays offers discounts on Combo deals, as well as selected drinks and shooters.
Saturday Shenanigans - Sport sport sport...Rugby and football live on their big screens, live music, and discounts on party food like platters, baskets, and Nachos.
Sunday Sessions with Sunday Roast Special, or Braai day (BBQ), plus there's live entertainment on their outside deck late afternoon.
A happy way to spend the day with a very special friend on a chilly winter's day!
