In Chinese custom, giving a blessed packet during Chinese New Year is the most common thing, especially for "older" (senior) married folks, and usually it is monetary blessing, just a token of a "well wishing" for the younger folks.
(Unfortunately a lot of kids these days do not quite get it and sometimes they just take it for granted that adults just need to give them "pocket money" in a fancier way)
But what if you are not in the "position to give" (especially you don't have much "stash" to "splurge")?
Partially in many ways my monetary giving is to give my parents the opportunity to do so.

This is where creativity still needs to come in.
The same "red packet"; but with a twist that the adults (my younger peers) would appreciate.

I have been experimenting healthier snacks for the young ones with a full set of teeth, to not only snack in health, it would probably keep them alert and happy.
However, healthy often tastes bland, and for youngsters who have been used to sweet beverages, I got to change the game a bit.
Using sugar frost coating

Oh. But not just any sugar frosts

I found this really useful Zero calorie sugar made from monk fruit, which tastes closer to a regular sugar compared to stevia and "frosts" better.
Just a 2 part sugar to 1 part water makes the trick

But I can't just use it as sugar and turned it to a regular candied almond. To balance the taste a little, I actually found a tutorial to roast the almonds in salt for its inner saltiness, and then coat it with sugar frost with a tad cinnamon spice, making it salty on the inside, but sweet and "minty" on the outside.
In Korean, it is called "단짠단짠" dan-jjan-dan-jjan

Yes, I even made sure to put that on the pack for the happy flavour, with 2 options: Mixed Trail / Simply Almond

And of course, I made sure everyone had an equal share!
Getting a new digital scale was the best decision ever as the old one from mom was going crazy.

I do opt it for my friends to order from me should they need assistance to make door gifts / Christmas mini gifts like these in the future. Keeping recipients happy with festive mood.

Not to mention packing them is also a lot of fun!

An alternate version of a "red packet", for generous singletons who would love to spread the joy of giving but in a more meaningful way as well.

So far my colleague's loved it!
The cost price (for the smaller pack like this) does cost a little, like MYR2 (because of the packaging), but I will promo to my friends whoever needs this with a healthy mix of dried raisins and seeds in a bigger bulk will not be charged with the packaging, just to promote affordable healthier snacks. haha.
What do you think?
Would you prefer a mini trail mix or just pure almonds if you receive such a "festive" munchie?
Until Then
Stay healthy, stay curious and learn new things, and stay happy!
