Pasalubong (presents) has been in our culture. Either when visiting friends or family, going home after vacation. Anything could be food, goods and sometimes even something as simple as a keychain. So when my vacation was over and about to go back here in my husband's hometown my problem was what to bring?
My province was well known for mangoes but currently it has been hard for me since I have with me my a toddler. What now?
What about buying something that is mango flavored?
Got this idea when our neighbor gave us serafina bread as appreciation after fetching water at home .
What is serafina bread?
A type of bread cooked deep fried, shaped like a ball and coated with sugar. Flavored varies.
Back to our neighbor, she is working in a bakery where products are flavored in mangoes and dragon fruits. It was only in the next Barangay. Thus due to emergencies, I decided to drop by there on the day of our flight.
Parojas, I've learned that some delicacies displayed in the town pasalubong center are from here. So yes, it was cheaper.
The reception area where customers could stay for a while either to eat or rest.
Looks like a residential house but it's actually the store.
The production area.
Without the signage, who would think it's a pasalubong center? With those potted plants, a spacious backyard and surrounded by green nature.
What are the products?
Here are the mango flavored serafina. This one is small packs and each cost Php25 or $0.43 (with $ valued at Php58.12.)
Family size cost $4.
Though you are not fond of mangoes, you may choose calamansi, dragon fruits and other flavors.
Or perhaps you want Pretzels?
Both look sweet and perfect for snacks.
You can also try the piyaya, another Filipino traditional delicacy. The origin was in negros and flavored ube while here had a taste of mango.
Looking for the best to pair in coffee? Why not try the biscocho? Best to go with black coffee for me.
Otap anyone? Unlike with biscocho this one is thin dough layered in sugar that gives crispy and sweet taste.
After purchasing, we left and perhaps will drop by again here after two years.
