Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've had the chance to try any new products in my city, and to my surprise, on a recent outing my sister took with her mom, she found a new flavor of soda from a well-known brand, but one we don't usually drink at home. Out of curiosity, she decided to buy it for us to try and, well, to share it with you all. So, here it is: "Golden" soda in its "hot mango" flavor.
Hola a todos, hace tiempo que no tenía la oportunidad de probar algún nuevo producto en mi ciudad, y para mi sorpresa, en una salida reciente que tuvo mi hermana con su mamá, esta encontró un sabor nuevo de refresco en una marca conocida, pero no muy consumida por nosotros en casa, por lo que con la curiosidad decidió adquirirlo para que lo probáramos a ver qué tal y, pues, también para compartirlo con ustedes. Así que bueno, este es el refresco "Golden" en su sabor "mango hot".
Golden is one of the best-known brands of beverages here, and we automatically think of cola, pineapple, or even the ever-popular apple flavor. However, they recently launched their "Extreme" line in this hot mango flavor with its vibrant green color. I have to say, I had planned to try their grapefruit version, which I'd seen months ago but hadn't been able to find again. However, when my sister showed me this one, it sparked my curiosity about whether it would be spicy or not, or perhaps the mango flavor.
La marca Golden es una de las más conocidas acá en cuanto a bebidas y, por pensamiento automático, siempre pensamos en el sabor colita, piña o incluso el tan conocido manzanita. Sin embargo, recientemente sacaron su línea "Extreme" en este sabor mango hot y ese color verde tan eléctrico. Debo decir que yo tenía pensado probar su versión sabor toronja, que había podido ver hace meses, pero no la había conseguido de nuevo; sin embargo, al mostrarme mi hermana este, causó esta intriga sobre si sería o no picosa o tal vez el tema del sabor mango.
To begin with, this was the one-liter bottle, and upon opening it, the aroma wasn't exactly mango, but rather caramel; in fact, there are some very popular candies here called "loquiños," and well, the aroma of this drink was practically the same, so initially, the fact that it was very artificial wasn't very appealing to me. We wanted to take the first sips while it was warm, mainly because I wanted to see how fizzy it was (mostly because I don't usually like carbonated drinks), and I have to say that, whether it's cold or warm, I feel it has too much carbonation; unlike other flavors from the same brand or others, this one is very fizzy.
Para empezar, esta era la presentación de un litro y, al abrirla, el aroma no era como tal a mango, sino más bien a caramelo; incluso, para hacer referencia, hay unos muy conocidos acá llamados loquiños y, bueno, el aroma de esta bebida era prácticamente igual, por lo que en primera instancia el tema de que fuera muy artificial no me fue tan agradable. Los primeros sorbos quisimos que fueran en caliente, más que todo porque quería ver lo del gas (más que todo por el hecho de que no me suele gustar el gas), y en esta debo decir que, aunque esté fría o caliente, siento que tiene demasiado gas; a diferencia de otros sabores de la misma marca u otros, este es muy gasificado.
Regarding the flavor, it's very sweet. I have to say, for something called "hot mango," I was expecting something with a hint of bitterness or even intensity; however, it's a very sweet, caramel flavor. As for the mango flavor, it felt artificial, but barely noticeable, which was very disappointing. It was like an energy drink, but with little flavor beyond the sweetness. We thought it was because we were trying it hot, so we put it in the fridge to chill to see if the flavor would improve; however, it didn't. On the contrary, I feel it was even more bland, but with that excessive sweetness, so it definitely wasn't for me.
Con respecto al sabor, este es muy dulce; debo decir que para que diga "mango hot", esperaba algo tal vez con un toque amargo o incluso intenso; sin embargo, es un sabor acaramelado muy endulzante. Con respecto a lo del sabor mango, se sentía artificial, pero poco presente, lo cual fue muy decepcionante; era como un similar a bebida energética, pero con poco sabor más allá de lo dulce. La cosa es que pensamos que era por lo de probarlo en caliente, así que lo metimos a enfriar a ver si mejoraba el sabor; sin embargo, no fue así; por el contrario, siento que era aún más desabrido, pero con ese toque de dulce excesivo, por lo que definitivamente no era algo para mí.
My mom and sister felt the same way, especially her, since she drinks a lot of soda and simply didn't approve. While we do enjoy unusual flavors, I felt this one lacked intensity and wasn't as artificial. So, considering it had been a while since I'd tried something new, it was a curious experience. Con respecto a mi mamá y mi hermana, pensaron igual, y más ella, que al ser alguien que toma mucho refresco, simplemente no le dio el aprobado.
