Existe algo muy sublime en sembrar semillas de vegetales que compras y luego verlos crecer y dar frutos. Es una experiencia que me encanta, pues me muestra lo sabia que es la naturaleza y lo afortunados que somos los seres humanos al poder disfrutar de sus bondades.
There is something truly wonderful about planting the seeds of vegetables you’ve bought and then watching them grow and bear fruit. It’s an experience I love, because it shows me just how wise nature is and how fortunate we humans are to be able to enjoy its bounty.
Sé que un foodie no necesariamente debe saber cocinar ni mucho menos plantar y cosechar, pero yo me siento muy feliz cuando puedo sembrar, recoger los frutos y luego llevarlos a mi cocina para preparar algo rico.
I know that a foodie doesn't necessarily have to know how to cook, let alone plant and harvest, but I feel really happy when I can plant something, pick the fruits, and then take them to my kitchen to make something delicious.
Había perdido las esperanzas con estas semillas y así lo hice saber en una publicación y, por alguna rara razón, no más había escrito esas palabras y a los pocos días empecé a ver flores en la planta. Y cuando esto pasa, con buena suerte serán polinizadas y darán frutos.

I had given up hope on these seeds and mentioned it in a post, and for some strange reason, no sooner had I written those words than, a few days later, I began to see flowers on the plant. And when that happens, with any luck, they’ll be pollinated and bear fruit.
I’ve watched with concern as pollinators like butterflies, bees, bumblebees, and crickets have become less frequent visitors to where I live. So, even though many flowers bloomed, not all of them bore fruit.
Ver los pequeños tomatitos que luego fueron creciendo tan perfectamente redondos. Mirar cómo cambiaban su color de verde hasta llegar al esperado rojo de la madurez fue algo muy hermoso.

Seeing those tiny little tomatoes that later grew into such perfectly round fruits. Watching them change color from green to the long-awaited red of ripeness was truly beautiful.
These little things mean a lot to me. And I will never stop being grateful for nature’s bounty.
Obtuve 155 gramos de tomate; en grupo de dos, tres o cuatro fueron creciendo y dándome alegrías cotidianas.
Una vez que estuvieron maduros, los fui recogiendo, tratando de mantener el cáliz, esas hojas verdes que están en el tope, pues leí que de esta forma pueden durar más. Los coloqué en un envase y los reservé en la nevera; así poco a poco llené el envase. Quizá consideres que no es una gran cantidad, pero a mí me resultó genial toda esta experiencia.
I harvested 155 grams of tomatoes; in groups of two, three, or four, they grew and brought me daily joy.
<Once they were ripe, I picked them, trying to keep the calyx—those green leaves at the top—because I read that this way they can last longer. I put them in a container and stored them in the fridge; little by little, I filled the container. You might think it’s not a large amount, but I found the whole experience wonderful.
