Classic Comfort Food: Breaded Pork with Homemade Fries and Tomato Soup

$1

This lunch was inspired by the main stars of the house — the kids — who wanted breaded pork chops with bone. I was also in the mood to prepare a simple tomato soup and fries, knowing those are always a hit.

🥩 Ingredients:
For the meat:

1.1 kg pork chops with bone (6 pieces)

3 eggs

100 g flour

Salt to taste

200 g pork fat

For the fries:

1 kg potatoes

200 g pork fat

Salt to taste

For the quick tomato soup:

1 L tomato juice (Tomatino or similar)

2 carrots

1 onion

50 g egg noodles

👨‍🍳 Preparation:
I started by trimming excess fat from each piece of meat.

Then tenderizing them with a meat mallet and seasoning with salt.

Each piece was dipped into beaten eggs, then coated in flour, dipped again in eggs, and fried in hot melted pork fat until golden brown — about 15 minutes.

For the fries, I peeled 5 medium-sized potatoes and hand-cut them into thin slices.

My son even complimented me on how evenly I sliced them — which gave me extra motivation! I salted them and fried them in hot pork fat for about 10 minutes, until they turned a perfect golden-yellow color. They get that slightly sweet, salty taste and melt in your mouth — kids absolutely love them.

For the tomato soup, I chopped the onion and carrots and added them to 1/2 liter of water.

Once it started boiling, I added 1/2 liter of tomato juice while stirring. You can add spices like oregano or pepper, but I skipped them since kids prefer a milder taste. After 15 minutes, I added egg noodles and cooked for another 1–2 minutes.

🥗 Serving:
This is one of those meals you make right after coming home from work — when kids are already asking: “What’s for lunch?”

I also prepared a simple fresh salad with cucumbers and cabbage on the side. And add some raspberries which whets the appetite and my kids love them.

The smell of soup, meat, and fries did its job — everything disappeared from the plates in minutes, which means the effort was worth it.
